Oracle, Configuration Settings, and 64 bit nightmare

We are trying to move to a 64 bit architecture, but I'm still having some
issues. I have the code with the 32 bit version of Oracle working fine on a
64 bit computer with Windows Server 2003 (also 64 bit version). .Net
Framework 2.0 SDK for both 64 bit and 32 bit are installed on the machine
along with the 32 bit version of Oracle Client and Oracle ODP. Here's my
problem:
when I compile my program as x86, then I get the following error:
"Configurat ion system failed to initialize at
System.Configur ation.Configura tionManager.Get Section (String sectionName)
at System.configur ation.Configura tionManager.get _AppSettings()"
If I compile the code for Any CPU or Mixed Platforms, I get the following
error: "FailedSystem.T ypeInitializati onException: The type initializer for
'DB.Database' threw as exception -System.BadImage FormatException : could not
load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAcc ess, Version-2.102.2.20,
Culture=neutral , PublicKeyToken= 89b483f429c4734 2' or one of its dependencies.
An Attempt was made to load a program with the incorrect format." I turned on
the binding information in the registry and got that the app was using the
machine configuration from
C:\Windows\Micr osoft.Net\Frame work64\v2.0.507 27\config\machi ne.config where
the Oracle dll seems to be getting hokey. Any ideas?

Using Oracle 8i enterprise on win 2000 (sp3) Installed the standard configuration & whenever I make a connection it takes about 10 secs. It's running on a P1900 with 1gb Ram so no reason there for slowness. Once I'm connected the queries work pretty much instantanously but to connect using SQLPLUS, Toad, ODBC, OLEDB all take about 10 secs. I connect using OLEDB from Visual Basic development environment & after the 1st connection...

Hi, I am having trouble with an install of Oracle 9i Release 2 on Linux Mandrake 9.1. I have 512 MB DDR RAM and a Duron 850 CPU. The install appeared to run fairly seamlessly except for a handful of problems : 1) Oracle complained that it could not set the file permissions on four files. They were

I have the need to store some application specific configuration data to be used by a class library and or a windows service. I would like to do this in a fashion similar to the way we do with applications and web services without having to use the machine.config file. I know that I could use the code below to do this but the problem then becomes that when using a shared assembly both the assembly and the config file need to be put...

Hi newsgroup, I have an issue with the configuration of a DB2 federated database (WebSphere Information Integrator) in conjunction with the relational wrapper for Oracle on AIX. DB2 seems to not use the existing tnsnames.ora. The Oracle client is installed and the connection to the Oracle database using tnsping and sqlplus is possible (for the db2instance user). For that I changed the environment for the db2instanceuser and added the...

I need to connect to an Oracle database. I've never done it before. I see that with framework 1.1 you had to download ODP.NET from Oracle's site in order for the framework classes to even work. I tried that quickly, but the file is 400 MB, and the the installation asks for all kinds of things in order to install. Now I'm very confused. a) Do you still need ODP.NET with framework 2.0? b) Do you need to download and install other...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
