How do I add an Uninstall icon off the start menu using Visual Studio .Net
Deployment project?
You can add a folder, project output, file or assembly or create a shortcut.
None of these seem to heading in the right direction. I have considered
adding a shortcut to something like "msiexec /x " or similiar but
to do this I created a shortcut to an uninstall icon (?!) that I previous
added to the project and then attempted to change its...

I want to change the target in the shortcut in the User's Programs
Menu in the setup project. I want the shortcut to point to an exe on
our local network. I've been doing this in VB6 and it works very well.
I don't have to reinstall all the client PCs every time I make a
change to my program. I just copy the new .exe up to the network.
Anyway how to I change where the shortcut in the Start-Programs menu
points to in the setup project?

I created an msi using the Setup Wizard, but don't seem to be able to create
a shortcut to the applicaton on the desktop (or prompt for one) or the menu.
Also, I would like to add an "uninstall" to this, but don't see that it
allows for this?
Am I missing something?

I have developed a Windows application in Visual Studio .NET 2003 and
created a Setup project for it. In the File System Editor I have added
a shortcut to the User's Desktop folder to point to the application
once it has been installed. I have added a condition to the User's
Desktop named "DESKTOPSHORTCUT" (I have used several names, this is
just the latest). In the User interface, I have added a screen with a
checkbox that asks the user...

Hi
I now have 3 projects. When installed, they each create a different folder
on the Start/Programs menu.
I'd rather have one folder, with 3 shortcuts in it. How would I change my
publish options to do this?
Thanks

I've been trying to clean up the installer I created using vb 2005 as best as possible to finalize a project I am working on. I have my installer deploying a .pdf file in the application folder. I want the installer to create a shortcut to that .pdf file in the start menu. I do this by right clicking on the .pdf file that I have included on the setup project in the application folder of the files system editor and making a shortcut. After that I...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
