It is my understanding that in .Net the registry is not the
prefered place to save application settings. What has Microsoft
put in place to replace it? I thought it was the .config file,
but I am unable to figure out how to write to the file.

Greetings.
I use Configuration Application Block of Enterprise Library to store some
user application settings like window size, position, etc..
Is there a way to set the FileName property of default XML File Storage
Provider to use ApplicationData folder of current user? This way each user
can have his own configuration file for given configuration class.
Best Regards,

Hi
How is the settings.settings supposed to be used???
If I add it to a class library, I get a app.config file with a
<applicationSettings> section, containing my settings. However if I include
this class library in a web-project, it seems like I have to copy this
<applicationSettings> settings into the web.config file of my web.config
file if I want to override some of the settings....
Now I have quite a number of Class libraries,...

Hello,
Currently, I'm using Visual Studio 2003, C#, Framework 1.1 and Enterprise
Library 2005 (for framework 1.1).
I've used the Enterprise Library Configuration utility to create my
connection to SQL Server, however when I run my C# program that calls a
Stored Procedure it fails. Here is what the ConnectionString block looks
like in my dataConfiguration.config file.

I have a vs2005 solution containing about 5 projects, three of which
have their own .settings files.
When I deploy the application, I want all the settings to be in one
place - configurable - presumably in an app.config file where I can
edit them. The settings will be used by a windows service,
filewatcher, database access application.
How do I achieve this?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
