hi
we are looking for a software that can convert on a server office
documents (via web services or other automated means) WITHOUT the use
of office itself, (it should handle hebrew documents) as office cannot
be used in a muliti-threaded enviorment .
the software should accept file via api which could later be
intergrated as web services.. or other synchronouse means...
i've heard a few recommendatiosn on activePDF however, from browsing
their web sites, they still use office behind the scense (claims of
"taming the beast" were brought forth). 3 2985
As a counter to that; on 2 separate projects I have stress tested
activePDF, and on both occasions I have been very disappointed with
the performance compared to other products. However, on each occasion
I had the advantage that I could use alternative input formats, such
as HTML - eventually for opting for HTMLDOC in the first project (many
years ago), and ABCpdf.NET in the second.
Many of the office converters work via postscript (/pdf) printer
drivers, doing things like setting up ephemeral printers and using
Office Automation.
I've just checked, and ABCpdf.NET now offers Word support: http://www.websupergoo.com/helppdf6n...thods/read.htm
I haven't tried it, but why not download an eval copy and give it a
go?
Alternatively: does it *have* to be office?
Marc
additional: looks like Word support needs OpenOffice.org

Yes - activePDF would be no good for your requirements...

Hi all,
I have developed a windows service with Visual Basic .NET which starts
a file conversion tool via the commandline. The tool open the files
(z.B. Word, Excel, Acrobat...) and prints them over an image printer
driver to tiff-files. On my Windows XP client it works fine, but on
the target system (Windows 2003 Server) some issues occured:
My first release uses the framework process class to start the
application. As a standalone...

A client is panicking about their large Access application, which
has been running smoothly with 100s of thousands of records for
quite some time. They have a big project in the next year that will
lead to a lot of use of the database and the adding of quite a lot
of new data (though I can't conceive of them adding more than than
10s of thousands of records, which won't change the current
performance profile at all).
If there is a SQL...

Hi,
We have a project that requires a .NET service to convert a Word document to
a PDF document. Basically, a person would create a mail merge template in
Word and through automation, we merge the data and spit out one or more PDF
documents. It appears that the best thing for me to do is get a product
that installs some type of printer driver. The problem is that the drivers
pop up a dialog box prompting for the destination file...

I just realized that the code I inherited is using all asp.net server
controls (ie. webform controls) and when I try to update textboxes on the
client side, I lose the new value of the textbox when submitting the form to
update the database. The server doesn't have the client side value any more.
It seems to me that as I begin to write the client side javacript code for
form validation and client side editing capabilities in order to save...

Hi,
I have a frameset page that contains two frames:
1. the first frame, an aspx page, contains a menu for navigating in the
website.
2. the second frame contains content, pdf, html or other aspx files
The problem is that the menu activates a server-side methods when the user
clicks on one of the menu items.
However, from the server side I cannot control in which frame the content
will appears, it will always be in the menu frame...

Hi,
I'd like to know the cleanest approach to generating PDF files on a web
server. I am looking at converting multiple document types, but for
now I'd like to know about .doc files. Basically, the user would upload
their original file, and it would be handed back to them as a PDF.
Does MS Office need to be installed on the server? Is there a way to
do this without Office? Do I really need a third party component, or
is it possible...

I have a headache.
I've done a LOT of research lately into XForms, and I am thoroughly
convinced that a good implementation of this technology would help me
immensely in converting my department's paper forms into interactive
online systems.
There are a couple of problems I'm facing that I'm hoping someone here
could help with. Number one: browser support for XForms is pitiful,
and I can't expect my target audience to download...

I hope I'm in the correct forum for this, as the problem is hard to categorize.
I have a VS 2005 asp.net application that invokes Word 2003 to opean and

The application works fine on my machine (Win XP SP2 and Office 2003 SP2) but
when I deploy the app to a server (Server 2003, Office 2003 SP2) everything

Using VB.NET, I've created a report that takes data from a stored
procedure, which goes into some aspx page controls, and inserts that
data into a pre-formatted Excel spreadsheet template by using Office
2003 COM objects. Unfortunately, I just found out that I can't install
Office on the server, so I need an alternative method. The report
needs to be in a certain format with specified fonts, bolds, colors,
etc..
Is there any way I can...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
