User Control with string resource property

I've created a very simple user control (just a label and a textbox). They are in their own assembly.

Now I want to add a property to that control, so that when I add that control into a form in another assembly, that property will appear in the property list for that control at design time (in Visual Studio).

The property is a resource string.

There is a resource editor for images, so that the design-time user can set a bitmap property by selecting an image resource.

But I can find no similar editor for string resources. I want the design-time users of this control to select the string from the resource files available to the current project in Visual Studio.

When serialized to code (in myForm.Designer .cs), it should produce a line like
this.myUserCont rol.myProperty = global::MyNameS pace.MyResource File.STRINGNAME ;

Any help is appreciated.

Hello, I am trying to insert multiple instances of a custom user control into a placeholder on an aspx page, based on the records retrieved from the database. I use the datareader to loop through the records and I want to create a new instance of the user control for each record and then change the properties of the controls within each user control. The problem is that after I create the new instance of the user control, I get a...

Hi, been a while since I posted a question myself instead of trying to help others out. I'm refactoring an existing web app that uses dynamic loading of user controls and a lot of response.redirects to the same page. Because I hate the overhead by doing this I'm searching for a cleaner option. But I'm having troubles (off course or I wouldn't be posting this).

Background: When I create a ASP.NET control (User or custom), it often requires security to be set for certain functionality with the control. For example, a news release user control that is comprised of a DataGrid may have separate permissions for adding, deleting and updating a news item. Problem Up until now, I have been implementing security directly inside the control. I will test directly against the security model to see if...

Hi, I guess I am confused. In aspx script, I mean (you won't use Codebehind="enrollinfo.aspx.vb", but mix code with html and code together) You can access user control's property directly. Since I am useing visual studio .net, the html and code are seperated. I have the following aspx code which has two user controls: <%@ Register TagPrefix="Subway" TagName="Peopleinfo" Src="Peopleinfo.ascx" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="Subway"...

Is it possible to get access to the local resource (App_LocalResources) of an aspx page from within a user control located somewhere else? I have created a user control which I want to add to a page and read values from the page's local resource. But within the code of the user control, I can only access the local resource of the user control itself in its own App_LocalResources folder. Can someone help me please? Cheers, Hannes

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
