Hi,
I've found what appears to be a bug with ASP.NET web service method
invocation - making it impossible to invoke and get the result of a
synchronous web call after an asynchronous call has been made if both are
using sessions.
Heres an example for two calls in the web service, the first is expected to
be executed asynchronously by the client and the second to get the progress
of the first while it is executing:

I have a web service and I'm using a connection string to SQL Server that
specifies "Integrated Security=SSPI" to impersonate the calling user. My
setup works fine until I add the attribute
to the web service, and then I start getting the error: Login failed for
user '(null)'. I'm guessing that this has something to do with threading and
the new thread not having the context of the calling user. Can somebody
enlighten me?
Thanks,
Chris

I've developed a web service with the SoapDocumentMethod(OneWay=true)
attribute. The service performs a number of functions including
accessing/updating SQL databases, and creating and reading a temporary Excel
worksheet file. The service works fine, however, when I run the service in
two consecutive calls, one right after another, it completes the second
request but appears to terminate the first request before completion w/o an
error...

Folks,
I have a Web service with the two possible types of methods - OneWay and
Request/Response. The problem is while debugging I cannot step into the
OneWay methods, while trying to do the same with Request/Response methods is
working just fine! Have any ideas why this happens? I have Microsoft .NET
framework 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005 as the development platform.

I have a WebMethod with the attribute OneWay set to True. When the
acknowledgement gets sent back to the calling computer the content-type
HTTP header is not present, and my firewall drops the response. Is
there anyway to explicitly set the content-type header or have it
automatically generated? I realize that since there is no payload it
makes sense not to have a content-type specified, but changing how the
firewall works is not an...

I have an ASP.NET/VB.NET program. There is a webservice does processing in a separate project which does not return any values. The webservice is executed upon clicking the run button on a certain page, however I would like the webservice to be executed in the background while the next line of code is processed on the client in concurently.

Hi!
We are using ASMX web service with WSE (we're using WS-Addressing) and
IIS returns HTTP status code 200 even if XML is malformed (it can
contain illegal characters in it).
The request does not get through the stack to the application, but if
I debug the application, I can see that exception is thrown somewhere
"down there".

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
