Write One Control, Use with Forms App & Web App?

Is it possible to write one control and use it in both a .net forms
application and a .net web application?

Naeem,

Nope. Not unless you are willing to embed the control into your IE
window, which I assume is NOT what you want to do. The mechanisms for
ASP.NET controls and Windows Forms controls are completely different.

Hope this helps.

Look at XAML/WPF. Could be seen as the convergence between WinForms and
WebForms. Just needs an abstract object server to provide funtionality -
that will be yor challenge.

Hi,

Yes there is and it is called Visual WebGui (http://
www.visualwebgui.com) which provides a unique way to create AJAX
applications by providing full WinForms like development including
design time support over web. This technology which is an extension to
ASP.NET provides you with the ability to write once deploy twice and
not resorting to non standard W3C browser solutions.

You can find here an introduction to Visual WebGui:
http://www.visualwebgui.com/Default.aspx?tabid=314

I will be happy to answer you questions if you have any at

I have noticed that within my application my button controls do not work when there are validation controls on the panel (even if the validation controls are not visible, i.e. not showing an error with the control they are validating). Also, I am only experiencing this issue on one...

I'm trying to write a little utility that will write some binary data to a file via a javascript and Windows Script Host under Windows XP. The only way to do this that I can find is to convert the binary data to text via String.fromCharCode() function and then write to the file with TextStream.Write(). But that function gives an "invalid parameter" error message when I try to write some ASCII codes to the file. I could understand if...

Hi all. I'm looking for some help here. My app creates a runtime label which is used as a clock -- it also then creates the timer for this clock at runtime. When the timer tick's clockUpdate is called (through AddHandler) and I use Controls.Find to find the runtime label. This works somewhat except that it seem for every 3 out of 4 ticks the following error is thrown: A first chance exception of type 'System.IndexOutOfRangeException'...

Hi, My C# app throws the following exception: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. From what I read so far I found that the problem can be connected to P/Invoke and that the places at which this exception is thrown might not reflect the actual problem. In my case, the exception is thrown, when I try to minimise my main window to the system...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
