I developed an Access 2003 program. When first form opens, part of form
freezes, for example I have 5 buttons on form, 4 of them behave like
pictures (you click on them, but they don't get pressed), while 5th
button can be clicked. If you double-click on windows taskbar, then you
can click on all 5 buttons.
What could be the problem ?

When I go to create a new VB.NET ASP.NET web application my Visual Studio
2003 freezes.
It creates the folder in c:\inetpub\wwwroot but in IIS it looks like a
regular folder.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

In a WindowsForms application it works just fine. Why not in ASP.NET?
The interop assembly used was in both cases auto-generated by Visual Studio
..NET from the same .dll
The code is exactly the same in WindowsForms and WebForms:
private void button1_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e) {
ImyCOMObject obj = new myCOMObjectClass(); // ASP.NET freezes here -
WindowsForm works perfectly

Dear All,
I have upgraded and application I developed on VB6 which uses the
Mscomm1 component and reads from COM1 port data send, then sends these
records to a table in SQL 2000. I upgraded the application to VB.Net windows
form to use the try catch method of trapping errors, the form runs smoothly
but after about 10 minutes the form freezes without raising any error.
Any hints will be useful.

Hi,
I am trying to use webclient to download a file from a windows application
and I notice that the application freezes while the file downloads. The file
is about 300k so it takes a few seconds for it to download.
Is there anyway to download the file on the background so the user can still
use the application while its downloading the file?
thanks

I am using Windows Media Player 10. I found that it only freezes when I am
using video files of the sizes 720X544. Files of 624X352 do not freeze up
and play. If you right click on the file and check properties the larger
files freeze and smaller do not. These are the only ones I checked. Does
anyone know how to configure Media Player to accept the file larger file
format or to convert the files.

Hi ,
VS2005 SP1 freezes (for 1-2 minute or so) about 15-20 seconds after it
has started. I've cleaned up my FileMRUList and ProjectMRUList in
registry. I changed my Help Settings in Options so it looks only on
local machine. I can't figure what VS2005 is doing 15 seconds after
startup.
No solution nor project is opened automatically.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
