mdi maximized child mainmenu bug

Can anyone tell me if this is a confimed bug and if there is a workaround:

- Create an form set as an mdi container
- Add a Menustrip to mdi container and set form's MainMenuStrip property to
newly created menu
- Create mdi child form and set it's window state to Maximized

When you run the project and open the child form, the menus are merged
properly, but the form appears the same size as it does at design time
(rather than maximized) and the child form's maximize button appears to be in
the restore state.
Click to restore, and you're back to a correct state. click again and form
is maximized properly.

Any ideas?

I have a demo project built to demonstrate.
Thanks

Forgot to mention, after all this, if you set mdi parent form's MainMenuStrip
property back to (none), then child form maximizes correctly when opened.
Thanks

I have Form1 and Form2 (which is inherited from Form1), and I created a button in Form2 that will fill up a textbox in Form1. What code would do that? I tried the simplest way: //from child form in button2 clicked event: textbox1.Text = "Hello";

I know I can merge a child forms menu into the MDI parent's mainmenu, but I would also like to listen for common events fired from the mainmenu that might be of interest to any child forms. Is this possible?

Hi, I do have this problem: While having an open MDI Parent form I am opening one MDI Child form that I am maximizing. The next child I open (even an instance of different MDI Child form) is maximized automatically. Even though it is set to normal in the properties menu. Do you have any idea how to avoid opening MDI children at the maximized state??? Any help most appreciated!

I've created a simple MDI application and have designated the Window menu to keep track of the mdi children. When I first load an mdi child, it's caption consists of "File: no file loaded" and this is what appears on the Window menu. Now, after the mdi child loads, I call a method to load a specifically named file. At this point, the child changes it's caption to reflect the new file name. Unfortunately, the Window menu does not update...

VB2005 / XP SP2 Hi all, I'm just a newbie in VB.Net and I created an MDI container form, with a menu and when I choose something from the menu, it should load the MDI child form maximized. To achieve this I set the WindowState property of the child to 'Maximized' and use the following code to display the form:

A while ago I posted a question on how to load MDI child forms maximized (WindowState=Maximized). When I do this they always load in a sort of in-between state and only when I resize the MDI container they take their proper state. Did anyone manage to do this in VB2005? If so, I'd love to hear how.... Tia, Martin

I am having a serious issue with my MDI child windows. This is with a large VB.NET application that I ported over to VS 2005 from VS 2003. The problem is that, if the child window is maximized and then closed, it produces the following error message: Cannot access a disposed object Object name:'icon' in source System.Drawing And then the whole system crashes. Again, this ONLY occurs if the MDI child window is maximized within the MDI...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
