I am new to WSDL and familiar with XML, but have used them very
little. What I am used to is ASP and now ASP .NET using a datagrid or
something like that.
What I am trying to find out is when an introduction to WSDL says
"after building a web service, one publishes a WSDL to tell users how
to get to the service..." how does one create a web service? If I use
WSDL, does that mean I don't have ASP .NET pages anymore and do it in...

Hi guys,
I am planning on building a rather large (in terms of publicly visible
methods) distributed application.
since the user (rich) windows forms client uses the application from inside
and outside the LAN, I thought of exposing these methods as webMethods
categorized into web services (instead of remoting I should point out -
which was the other option).

Hi, I have a web service called GetComputerNameAndDescription which I can
call from the main thread of my app. If I call it from a separate thread,
however, it hangs on the call to Invoke() -- but only if I'm in the
debugger. Here's a stack trace with non-user code shown -- the call to
RegisterNotifySource, at the top of the stack, never returns -- I have to do
a "break all" inside the debugger, then find this thread and examine its
call...

I was reading a ppt ( http://www.gotdotnet.com/team/pdc/4064/tls310.ppt )
and came aross this statement.
"Users can leverage a destructor. The C++ compiler generates all the Dispose
code automatically, including chaining calls to Dispose. (There is no
Dispose pattern)"
but Dispose can thrown an exception. Is the exception supressed?

hi ng,
i try to invoke a webservice-method with an filter-object, that
contains value types. if i don´t want to filter the return value of
the method, i have to pass a new instance of the filter-object without
setting any properties. but the value type-properties can´t be null
and the filter is set to 0 (int) or false (bool).
therefore i did implement the propertySpecified-pattern like this:
