My form uses a dataset containing two tables, a base table
(Contact) and a lookup table (Insurer). My combobox is
bound as follows:
DataSource = datasetContact
DisplayMember = Insurer.InsurerName
ValueMember = Insurer.InsurerId
DataBindings.SelectedValue = Contact.InsurerId
It generally works fine. I am able to navigate records and

I have a WinForm with controls bound to a typed recordset that was generated
by the Dataset Designer. There are several ComboBox controls with their
DataSource bound to different lookup tables. Everything is working fine,
except when I need to handle a null default value in the data record coming
from the database. I want the combo whose SelectedValue is bound to that
field to display the "default" entry in the combo in this case. I...

Hi-
I've seen this problem discussed a jillion times but I cannot seem to
implement any advice that makes it work. I am porting a large project from
VB6 to .NET. The issue is using the combo box bound to a table as a lookup,
drawing values from another table to populate the available selections. This
all worked fine in VB6.
I have distilled the problem down to a simple form drawing data from the
Northwind database for a representative...

I've been working with VB .NET for less than a year and this is the
first time I've posted on one of these groups, so let me apologize
beforehand if I'm being unclear, not posting my issue correctly,
posting to the wrong forum, or committing some other sort of faux pas.
My team is developing a Windows Forms application using VS 2005 with
SQL Server 2005 on the back end and we're having a problem using
ComboBoxes data bound to lookup...

Hi all
I'm beginning my foray from VBA into VB 2005 Express, and enjoying
some of the efficiencies it provides! I'm stuck with some dataset
handling however that I _think_ can be automated but I can probably
code what I want to do the hard way. I've searching around online but
can't find an answer to this specific question.
Here's the situation: I have a dataset table with 3 fields: one
indexed as a primary key and the other two...

I have databound a Windows form ComboBox control to a DataSource and
DataMember and it is properly showing the data as I navigate through
the records. My question concerns the choices in the pull-down list
itself.
The Field is Priority and the only available choices should be "High",
"Low", "Do Not Call".
These are the only choices I would like to see in drop-down, but
because it is bound to the column it is showing multiple instances...

Hi there..
I am a VB6 developer so kinda trying to figure how to work with
VB.NET. I have a scenario where i have a DataSet bound to a combo box,
and i would like to read a row from the DataSet based on the item
selected in the Combo Box.
For e.g.
I have a dataset that has 1 table containing 3 fields say ID, Name,
and Address.

I have a table of addresses and it contains a CountryId which points to a
table of countries. The datatstructure of the Countries Lookup tables is
actually created from three tables - a CountryIdtable - a Countries
localized tables and an cultures tables From which I extract a dataset
select CountryID - CountryName - Culture name (with inner joins between the
three) where CultureName = CurrentCulture.CurrentUiCulture.tostring. So I
would...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
