You're going to have to know the layout of the login page's form. If you
do (i.e. you are trying to write an application for a specific Web site)
then you simply need to first send an HTTP POST with the login
credentials and the proceed with the aforementioned example.

Cheers

I had this problem in the past, after a server reformat it went away, and now after another server reformat it's back again - no clue what's doing it. Here's the flow: Website root is public, no SSL no forms auth. One of the subfolders in the public area is the root of a "protected" area; SSL is required from this subfolder on forward and a web.config in the subfolder specifies forms authentication. From the public area, I provide a...

I would like to provide a login feature on my website that uses HTTPS/SSL. I've gotten all the certificates and have successfully done logins when the login page is secure. But I would prefer to have the login page load in HTTP and then much like Hotmail does (if you look carefully) it redirects to an HTTPS link to authenticate and once successful, back to a standard HTTP link so that not every page has to be encrypted. My question is...

I have a login page on a Windows IIS server: login.aspx I'd like to enable the user to optionally use HTTPS to login so that their password would not be easily snooped out. What does this involve exactly? I know that you use a https prefix instead of http, but that's it. Is there configuration of directories necessary? Got a good website for this basic info on https?

OK, here's the deal. Let's say I got a website called: https://www.blah.com/~account/application/login.php When the user arrives they see a https which is more secure than just http alone. The problem for me is it is too slow because it's shared with others (but at least it's free), and I'm too cheap to shell out the money for my own, etc.

Hi, I'm trying to login to the www.vodafone.ie website using HttpWebRequest. It works fine with IE/Firefox and the .NET Web Control too, just not with my code. I think it's a redirect 302 problem. I'm using this code in a ASP.NET 2.0 application just in case that matters, maybe someone knows a better way to do this?

Hi All, We have a requirement where we have to develop a custom Login Page which will accept user's NT credentials ( Username , password, domain name). This then needs to be passed to a website which uses Windows Authentication Now my question is how do we pass these credentials to IIS in classic ASP? Would appreciate any help/pointers on this. Thanks in advance.

Hi, all: I have a website with its own login page. Now one of my clients want their employees log into my website from their website. They want to have their login page (look and feel are different and hosted on another web server) and then send the user id and pwd to my login page. What is the best to do this? Pass the user id and pwd on the url is not a solution since everybody will see the user's credential.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
