Knowing when my assembly is loaded

Is there a way for me to know from within a given assembly when it gets
loaded? If so, how can this be done?

Thanks in advance!

I have a class library where just about every class uses its static initializer to register with a central registry object in the same assembly. I am hoping for some sort of Assembly.Load event that I can handle to go through my assembly and invoke the static initializer on each relevant class. This way, everything that needs to be registered will be registered before the first request to the registry object. So my questions are:

Hi, I'm currently writing a Web Services that interacts with a database. To allow me to use not just one database provider (for example, I could use MS Access, SQL Server or MySQL), the Web Service dynamically loads up an assembly that implements an Interface I called IDatabase. To load the assembly and create an object, I wrote this function: private IDatabase LoadDatabasePlugin( string assemblyFile, string

I was trying to write a routine this morning that would open a given assembly, walk the inheritance tree of classes in the assembly, and provide a list of classes in the assembly that inherit from DataSet. Here is a snippet from the routine I came up with: ------------------------------------------------------------ openFileDialog.ShowDialog(); Assembly assembly = Assembly.LoadFile(openFileDialog.FileName);

The following code will enter an infinate loop when in ReadChars. I can only make it happen when reading a Stream and with this particular XML. If I use the ReadInnerXml call rather than my own ReadElementBodyAsXml the code works, but is less efficent. ReadElementBodyAsXml is required by my application with .Net Framework 1.1. The code breaks on the second call to ReadElementBodyAsXml with the inner xml: </EGDConfigExtension>...

My ASP.NET Web app uses a few 3rd party assemblies. Just wondering when those are loaded into the Web app's AppDomain - and for how long do they stay loaded. Is an assembly loaded the first time a page is loaded (where the page in question makes use of the 3rd party assembly)? Or are all assemblies referenced by the Web app automatically loaded whenever the Web site starts (or is restarted)? Thanks.

Hey all, I have a bit of peculiar problem. I need to create an instance of a class, but I do not know which assembly that class belongs to. I do know it is from an assembly loaded within the app domain though. I was hoping I could have it work in the following way: Given a classpath, attempt to create the object from one of the assemblies currently loaded in the app domain. Any way of doing this? Cheers, Nelson

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
