I've got a C library with about 50 calls in it that I want to wrap in
Python. I know I could use some tool like SWIG, but that will give me a
too-literal translation; I want to make some modifications along the way
to make the interface more Pythonic.
For example, all of these functions return an error code (typically just
errno passed along, but not always). They all accept as one of their
arguments a pointer to someplace to store...

On a website, it says that "Dinkum C++ Library" has <algorithm>, <bitset>,
<complex>, <deque>, etc. What's "Dinkum C++ Library"? How is it related to
standard C++ library? Thanks!

Hi all!
The Strinx library is an efficient and easy-to-use string library. It
is written in C++, using modern template approach. It uses a class
hierarchy to implement a set of string objects which the user may
easily extend. It also tries to solve few problems which exist in the
standard string and have been discussed during the recent years in the
various newsgroups.
The library may be downloaded freely from:

Does anyone know of a decent (free/easy to use) C++ library for
manipulating matrices and caculating eigenvalues, eigenvectors and so
on? I intend to add some Principal Component Analysis functionality to
some software.
Any recommendations appreciated.

Now that I have a better grasp of the scope and capabilities of the C++
Standard Library, I understand that products such as Qt actually provide
much of the same functionality through their own libraries. I'm not sure
if that's a good thing or not. AFAIK, most of Qt is compatable with the
Standard Library. That is, QLT can interoperate with STL, and you can
convert back and forth between std::string and Qt::QString, etc.
Are there any...

The SEI has published CMU/SEI-2006-TR-006 "Specifications for Managed
Strings" and released a "proof-of-concept" implementation of the managed
string library.
The specification, source code for the library, and other resources
related to managed strings are available for download from the CERT web

I have a very simple Visual Basic .NET 2003 class library project
ClassLibrary1 configured to run an external program (in this case
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscript.exe), in the Debugging Configuration Properties
Dialog Box with command line arguments C:\test.vbs. When I run the project, I
get an "unable to start debugging" error "unable to start program
'C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscript.exe'".
Why do I get this error and how can I solve it?

Is the ctime library really that poorly designed, or is it just me
looking to do things the wrong way?
The whole concept of the struct tm seems way too highlevel for my taste
- this is something that I would implement myself if needed.
I have started programming c++ long before I did Visual Basic, and even
before Visual Basic was around. However, one has to give credit, where
credit is due: What's wrong with the (imo really good) VB...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
