c# 3.0 - when?

Anyone know when it will be finalized? late 2007?

Gabe,

C#'s release date will follow the .NET framework 3.0's release date, so
when that is released, C# will be released.

Hope this helps.

Is that right? .NET 3.0 will be released when Vista is released. So, C#
3.0 will be released along with those two in November? That doesn't
sound right. It seems awfully soon. I thought 3.0 had to be officially
standardized and whatnot. I can't find anything on Microsoft's
website...

isn't november next month? let's wait and see...

No, I don't think that's true.

"C# 3.0" is part of Visual Studio "Orcas". No release date - or even
estimated release date has been announced for Orcas yet, but it's a safe bet
that it't not next month. Late 2007 maybe.

Watch http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/future/ for information about the
timing of upcoming releases - whever any public statements are made about
when a future version of Visual Studio will be released, that page is
updated.

I don't believe that's true. C# 3.0 will come significantly after .NET
3.0 - .NET 3.0 should be released when Vista is released, which should
be much earlier than Orcas. I expect C# 3.0 to only be released when
Orcas is.

Not at all. .NET 3.0 is merely 2.0 plus a bunch of Vista libraries.
C# 3.0 will ship with .NET 3.5 which will ship with Visual Studio
Orcas, at an unspecified time after Vista and .NET 3.0.

Here's a blog entry by Julia Lerman that details the relationships:

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
