I haven't installed VS2005 B2 yet.
My main concern is installing VS2005 B2 on the XP Pro machine where VSN2003
already exists.
Am I asking for trouble? Your comments...

No reply on my previous query, so I'll post this again. I've done a
bit more research in the interim.
I'm trying to find an easy way to port code from the older VS2003
format to the format used in VS2005. VS2005 uses partial classes to
split off the compiler-generated sections of forms. It keeps the
editable files uncluttered.
I...

I can open Form1.cs w/ windows "open with" contextmenu, then it opens the
file w/ notepad & it works fine
but after installing VS2005, "open with" doesnt function correctly.
If I try to open with notepad, it forces an open to VS2005

Will there be a VS2003-style splitter control in VS2005 when it gets past
Beta? I am not referring to the new splitter container in VS2005, but the
original splitter control in VS2003.
If not, then a lot of forms designed with splitters in legacy VS.NETs may be
more painful to port/upgrade into VS2005? Should I be concerned?
Thanks,...

1. Create a new Windows Application project.
2. Open the project properties and check "Make single instance application".
3. Build.
4. Go to the release folder and run the application.
5. Try to open a second instance of the application.
This will cause an unhandled exception and the "Send Error Report" box shows
up. Does this happen to...

VS2005 is a PIECE of Garbage and is bug Ridden, I wonder how many others
feel the same, I am so sorry that I have moved away from VS2003,
VS2005 is unstable, and half the stuff doesn't work, Microsft has spent so
much time trying to make it simply that when you try to do something useful
with it it doesn't work...
Half the time it...

Hi,
We have a product with bunch of dlls which are now built with Visual
Studio 2003. We want to switch the build to use VS2005. I have read
that in VS2005 runtime libraries come as side-by-side assemblies and
that application has to have a manifest binding it to those assemblies.
My question is, can previously built apps use my new...

I have been asked to write a ..NET Windows app using the 1.1 framework. I
have both 1.1 and 2.0 on my PC. When I create a new project in Visual
Studio 2005, it shows initial namespaces under references (System,
System.Data) all of which are version 2.0.
How can I tell my project to use only the 1.1 framework?
Thanks,
Ron

I have vs2005 installed on the System disk and vs2008 installed on a
different disk.
I want to remove VS2005. I read one time about some problem with
uninstalling vs2005 after vs2008 is installed but can't find the site now.
Is there a problem?
Would reinstalling vs2008 fix any problem that may occur because of
uninstalling vs2005.

I'm using vs2005
I set the validator to 'Xhtml transitional 1.0'
I notice that the validator fails
It doesn't detect some errors and it considers other ones as error
but they are not
I'm ASSUMING that what w3c validator says is RIGHT

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...

I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
