Generic TreeNode problems

Hi all.

I have a class that inherits from TreeNode and adds a generic property,
NodeObject. Then I have several other classes that inherit from this class
and specify the type of NodeObject as below:-

public class BaseNode<T: TreeNode
{
private T _nodeObject;
public T NodeObject
{
get
{
return _nodeObject;
}
set
{
_nodeObject = value;
}
}

}

public class SiteNode : BaseNode<SiteIn fo>
{
public SiteNode(SiteIn fo site)
{
NodeObject = site;
Text = site.SiteName;
ImageKey = "Site";
SelectedImageKe y = ImageKey;
}
}

public class DepartmentNode : BaseNode<Depart mentInfo>
{
public DepartmentNode( DepartmentInfo dept)
{
NodeObject = dept;
Text = dept.Department Name;
ImageKey = "Dept";
SelectedImageKe y = ImageKey;
}
}

This all works fine. However, I want to implement Drag and Drop of the
NodeObject data out of the TreeView. My question is how can I access the
NodeObject property generically to use in the DoDragDrop method? In the
TreeView's MouseMove event you can access the SelectedNode property, but
that is of type TreeNode. So I would need to cast this to say an interface
that exposed the NodeObject property but I cannot seem to figure out how to
do this.

I also tried using the ItemDrag event but that presents the same problem as
the data is passed as type object. I hope someone can understand my
rambling and offer some help.

TIA.

More problems with this... When I run this code, the main form returns an invalid cast exception as it's executing the line "TreeNode n = (TreeNode) this.Nodes;" Does anyone know what would cause this? I just want to be able to use my own node class so that I can store extra data... =========================

I've searched everywhere and cannot find the answer. I'd appreciate and help. Thanks. What I'm doing is creating a treeview with the structure as follows (this is the expanded view): - Item Status - Item Status Details

I am using the clipboard to copy and paste a TreeNode but the Tag property does not seem to be copied. I use the Tag property for an Object that contains data relating to the TreeNode. The Tag property is fine when the TreeNode is put onto the Clipboard but the Tag property is always 'nothing' when I take the TreeNode from the Clipboard. Private Sub PutNodeOnClipboard(ByVal thisNode As TreeNode) Dim thisDataObject As New DataObject...

Hello, I am re-writing a visual basic .net application(visual studio 2003) in an asp.net application(visual studio 2005). The vb.net application relied on a treeview and hence, treenodes. The treeview and treenode class in asp.net is limited compared to vb.net's. In vb.net, the treenode had a nextnode property which was equivalent to finding the next sibling of the treenode. asp.net's treenode has a child property and a parent property....

I've found it's no problem to insert instances of named delegates as values into a generic dictionary of the form : private Dictionary<KeyType, DelegatemyDictionary = new Dictionary<KeyType, Delegate); using the standard .Add method of the Dictionary, passing in the name of the delegate instance for the value. private void myMethodBody()

< note : this message was sparked in part by comments by David Browne on a previous thread : "inserting an anonymous method as a value in a generic dictionary ?" : David had shown the use of 'Delegate as a valid Type declaration for the Value of a Generic Dictionary. I am curious as to why I can compile and use this syntax : it seems to me to violate the requirement that the Value of a Generic Dictionary be a Type Name.

I am trying to add nodes with keys to my treeview. I can add general nodes without problem with: //create new node TreeNode newNode = new TreeNode(myIdNumber); //create children TreeNode myPersonNode = new TreeNode(myPerson); TreeNode myAddressNode = new TreeNode(myAddress);

If you see this posted twice - sorry. My news reader showed my first post as "No Longer Available" I have the following in a .css file. The treeNodes behave as if they were "a" elements. I can't get them to not respond to the mouse!

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
