Hi,
i am in search of a cddb module for Python on windows. I stumbled upon
http://sourceforge.net/projects/cddb-py but couldn't use it since the
mci.dll is compiled against Python2.0.
So i'm trying to rebuild it using Dev-C++. I've succeeded in building a
dll but when i try a test program it get this error:

Hello,
Does anyone have a working command string / usage to play audio data
(WAV format) from RAM ?
Basically, I have some random files that I can convert to WAV (RIFF)
format very easily.
I can write them out to disk (eg C:\Temp\test.wav) and then play them
back with MCI. No problems there.

I'd like to know how to run AVI video files with sound in Access 2003.
Microsoft's Animation ActiveX control doesn't play sound, so I tested
Dev Ashish's fPlayStuff routine. This is failing with error code 263 -
"The specified device is not open or is not recognized by MCI".
Can anyone give me a workaround for this error code, or point me towards
another AVI solution?

I am using MCI (winmm.dll) to read, record and playback sound. For
now, I am doing this with disk files instead of realtime doing it
straight from the memory. If I want to stream/relay/transmit this
sound (file) on a Windows socket (not using FTP but TCP), can I read
the file into a byte array? Because if it is possible then I can send
it on the socket but the problems I foresee are:
How will I repack it into the file. Will just reading...

I'm putting together a C# .Net forms project on win2k. The application
requires some sort of horn sound. I've never implemented any audio in .Net,
so I'm not sure how best to accomplish this.
It's an application that works with a wireless barcode scanner, in a
warehouse environment. The user could be potentially 20 or 30 ft. from the
PC. If the user scans something improperly, the app should sound a 'horn' to

Hi,
Is there a way to play audio using MCI (I preffer MCI, but if you know of any others I'll be greatful) from a Filestream?
I mean, I have a filestream to an audio file, can I play the audio? I can't access the file directly, so just using the MCI's MCI_OPEN command won't work.

I'm adding a bit of sound to a simple game I've got going, and
I want to have several sounds on at the same time, so I go looking
to use the MCISendString commands and find they CRASH MY
COMPUTER after moderate use.
After a bit of searching the web for what I might be doing wrong
I find the work around is to bring in the old MultiMedia ActiveX
control from the .Com world and use it, so I added the three I need
and no more crashes.....
