Deserialization problem when upgrading from VS.NET 2003 to VS.NET 2005

Joe
I'm getting this strange error:
The object with ID 203 was referenced in a fixup but does not exist.

I get different numbers depending on the file I'm trying to deserialize.

Any idea what it means?

Hi Joe,

Could you show us your class definition and your
serialization/deserialization code? So that maybe we can try to repro here
on my computer. Also does this always happen?

The problem had something to do with our surrogate we were using. I no
longer need the surrogate so everything seems to work fine.

Hi, I have just used the import Wizard to import a VS 2003 app to VS 2005. I have a lot of work to do to enable it to compile successfully with all the errors and warnings it gave me, but as a starting point the compiler can no longer find the function as at the bottom of this posting, that was in the Global.asax.vb file. All the function does is give an easy / quick way of getting the application

Hello All, I'm trying to use XML Serialization to a class that inherits from another class and also has ArrayLists exposed as properties. When I serialize the class after populating the methods I get the following XML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <Bulletin xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <MetaData>MetaData</MetaData>

I know it's in Beta 2, but I can't report any good experiences with upgrading a project form 2003 to 2005. I tried to upgrade a 2003 project to C# Express 2005. My application has hardly anything, as I'd just started on it. It contains just a main form, and about box and a few class files. After upgrading it - which seemed to go smoothly, my main form wouldn't load. Some errors because of a custom control that I had created. I deleted...

According to the information on the Microsoft web site, code written in VB.NET 2002 can simply be recompiled using VS.NET 2003. However, I have found that code which compiles cleanly in VS.Net 2002 gets new compile errors in VS 2003. It appears that there are new scope rules in VB.NET 2003. I get "Name not declared" errors on public functions in public modules. The errors are fixed by wrapping the module in a name space and then...

Summary: I have been trying to make requests of a web service provided by Axis using a dotnet client with code generated by wsdl.exe and have been getting exceptions when trying to process the response. As a result of seraching news groups I guessed that the SOAP response defines an array element in a way that causes the dotnet deserialization routines to put the content in a generic object array (object) BUT the content is supposed to...

I have a vendor web service that I have created a web application to interact with. The service works fine in VS 2003 but fails in VS 2005. I have implemented a proxy between the web client and web service to capture the soap calls and both the request and response are identical. The problem occurs in VS 2005 when the .net runtime attempts to de-serialize the soap response into the custom type defined in the wsdl. The exact error message...

So far it's the same as asp>>asp.net and VB>>VB.NET. In other words, after a day of struggling it gets harder to make the business case, not easier. Or have I got something completely wrong? Would someone please tell me that it's a walk in the park? But, if that's so then what's the secret? Is there a step-by-step that really, really, works? Jeb.

After upgrading a web application from VS 2003 to 2005 there is a page where any control event that should cause a postback instead generates an Invalid character error on the page. For example a drop down list is set to AutoPostBack, and for OnSelectedIndexChanged should update the values of other drop down lists. This page works fine in VS 2003, and the other pages with similar controls are posting back fine in 2005. Has anyone else...

I am planning to move from my Visual Studio .Net 2003 edition to the 2005 platform. I understand that 2005 uses the 2.0 framework. Will this affect my development in 2003 should I wish to continue developing in that? The reason is that I am familiar with VB.Net 2003 and may want to go back to it occasionally, but in 2005 I am planning to learn C#. Any advice is appreciated. Thanx, --

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
