accessing different versions in assembly

Hi,

I have a question about using different versions of same assembly from
GAC....

I have created a assembly "testlib" and created a strong name for that
assembly. Installed the assembly in GAC. Now I have created a client
application (windows application) "usetestlib ". In the assemblyinfo.cs
file of usetestlib, i have given the version of the "testlib" assembly.
while running the client application it is working fine.

Now I changed the one statement in one of the function of "testlib".
Rebuild again. installed this latest version in GAC again. Now while
running the client application, it takes the latest version of assembly
bydefault, without changing anything in assembly info or any other
settings.

What settings or changes required in the client application to make
sure it takes the old version of the assembly.

how to access different versions of the same assembly from different
client applications.

Thanks.

We have a situation where we have decided (in an attempt to keep things simple) to stick to local assemblies rather than global ones. However we now have the following situation looming AssyA depends on AssyB depends on AssyD version 1 AssyA depends on AssyC depends on AssyD version 2 Obviously we cannot copy both versions of AssyD to the AssyA's bin directory. Is the only sensible way around this (rather than going the GAC route)...

I'm working on a client-server application where the client is controlling two devices (aka servers) which both implement the same interface contract. We have a set of about 4 assemblies which specify the interfaces and the data types which flow through the interfaces. Initially, we thought this would be enough for the client to talk with the server. In general it is, but when an exception is generated by the server it fails to...

I have a service which is used to call differenct versions of an application depending on the database version that is being used. The service has been compiled in framework 1.1 and it needs to call the current version of the application (also compiled in framework 1.1) and also historic versions (compiled in framework 1.0). The application compiled in framework 1.1 loads correctly,

Hello. Are there any resources out there (because I couldn´t find any) concerning the usage of assemblies with different features in each version? In other words: I´ve got one assembly A that is using assembly B - B exists in different versions. Now I want to make it possible for A to ask B what features it supports or what data it can give to A.

Hi, We have an ERP-Application that needs to interact with an "external accountancy program". This is acchieved through a "Connector" (ActiveX-dll) so kindly provided by the Accountancy-Program. Our issue however is that there are multiple (current) versions of that connector, each one working only with a certain version of the installed accountancy-program. Of all current versions we use shared (I mean available in all versions, I don't...

I'm accessing MSOutlook via Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook. It works fine if I add a reference to either version 11 (Outlook 2003) or version 12 (Outlook 2007) of the interop assembly to my project. However, I don't want to build two different applications for each version; I want my application to detect and use the current version at runtime. But when I load the assembly at runtime, I don't have access to its classes at compile time...

Using 3.5, I am stuck in attempting to: 1. Dynamically load an assembly 2. Instantiate a class from that assembly (the client code is in a different namespace than the namespace of the dynamically loaded assembly) so far so good (per my code below)... but here is where I'm getting hung up: 3. Call methods of that type (see comments in my code) If the types in the dynamically loaded assembly were in the same namespace

Trick Or Treat! I have a web server setup to host both .NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0 web applications. The applications are isolated by virutal directories (VirtDir1 points to C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\app1, VirtDir2 points to C: \Inetpub\wwwroot\app2, etc). The ASP.NET property for each virtual directory is set to 1.1.4322 or 2.0.5xxxx based on which version the application was build with. Everything works fine...there is peace and harmony between...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
