Appropriate event for a combobox

I have a combobox with some values loaded from a database. I want to use a
barcode reader to select a value in the combobox. But as soon as it is
selected I want to fire an event. What event would be the most appropriate?

When you set the combobox to point to a different item, it will fire the
SelectedIndexCh anged event. Or were you looking for something else?

But what happens when more than 1 of the same are scanned consecutively?
There would be no SelectedIndexCh anged event firing.

I think I've painted myself into a corner, and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have a table of books (tblBooks), which includes a field (strPubName) for Publisher Name and another field (strPubCity) for Publisher City. These two fields have a many-to-one relationship with tables, (tlkpPubName and tlkpPubCity) respectively. The lookup tables only have one field (strPubName and strPubCity), which is their primary key. I also have...

I need an event notification when the user types anything in the combobox textfield? I know about the TextChanged Event but the problem is this is also fired when the user selects an item in the combobox which updates the textfield, and there is no way of knowing what fired the event other then that it came from the combobox. I am guessing the only way to do this would involve the keyup & keydown events. How about if the user pastes...

I have a combobox with a SelectionChangeCommitted event handler, and am having a problem raising this event. For example, raiseEvent mycombobox.SelectionChangeCommitted gives me an error about not being ended properly. But it won't accept parameters either. What's the trick here?

I want to be able to compare the old combobox index to the newly selected combobox index in the SelectIndexChanged event. How can I do that? I know I could store the last selected value for the combobox myself and compare that to the new index in the SelectIndexChanged event, but doesn't VB.Net store this value somewhere so I don't have to?

Hello All, For some reason, the MouseDoubleClick event for my ComboBox does not appear to be working. I am not subscribed to any other events for this control. I pulled out Spy++ and noticed that the WM_LBUTTONDBCLICK message is indeed occurring. The ComboBox does not provide a DoubleClick event like other controls do. The Windows application is being developed in VS 2005.

I have a combobox with items like this: {one, two, three}. The selected index is 0, so "one" appears in the combobox text. When the user drops down the list, and selects "two", for example, I modify the Items collection to be {two, one, three} and now want "two" to appear in the combobox text. However, the combobox text is now blank. the is apparently somehow the result of having changed the combobox.Items collection. If, trying to fix...

I have a combobox whose rowsource is a union query. This query displays a person's name in "lastname, firstname" format and in "firstname lastname" format. The query results look like this: Mouse, Mickey Mickey Mouse When a person is added, the querys' underlying recordset is updated in the NotInList event. I can't figure out how to refresh the combobox to display the new person. I get the standard error message that the

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
