Is there some way --using, say, DOM or javascript-- to detect the
current pixel width and/or height of a relatively sized table or of
one of its columns or rows. I'm going to be writing javascript to
adjust my page to the viewer's browser window dimensions and this
would sure be great information to have.
Thanks ....

Hi all,
I am becoming a little stressed with the age-old problem of detecting when a
user types (for example) a quote character ("). On a UK keyboard, I can look
for a 2 + shift mask; on US, single quote + shift mask.
I don't want to have to know every single international keyboard layout just
to know when a shifted character has been entered. If anybody has any ideas
to share, I'd be very grateful!

I've posted about this subject before but haven't really got anywhere yet.
I have now come up with a plan of action that takes into account my strong
desire to implement save/discard functionality on all key forms.
The first thing to do is to successfully split the database.
I then rewrite to support multiple users.
To allow the save/discard feature I create copies of the key tables and
append the word Final to each one.
For example I...

I apologize if this is a faq. I searched for about 45 minutes and
didn't find a good answer but there are many matching posts.
I have a form which is based on a simple query to a linked table. The
data is set to no edits, additions, deletions, dataEntry. If the form is
open, but the linked table is opened seperately in design mode, than a
message appears saying "the table is already opened exclusively by
another user". Which makes perfect...

Hello,
I am working on an Acc2003 app for my company. In the interest of
reducing chances of corruption due to unstable network connectivity, I
would like to either prevent users from running it through a wireless
connection, or limit their use to read-only. I have absolutely no idea
if this is possible, and if so, how. Is there any way from within
Access to get the list of routers they are connecting through?
Ideally, I'd like to keep...

This is what i'm trying to do:
I'm porting a windows app to a web app.
I have a webform which will edit some data stored in a database.
The data needs to be locked in the database, while editing.
On first page load:
Create a custom rowlock object and store it in viewstate.
When user clicks on edit, retrieve the viewstate object and lock
the row in the database.

I wrote an app that alerts a user who attempts to open a file that the
file is currently in use. It works fine except when the file is
opened by Notepad. If a text file is opened, most computers are
configured to use Notepad to open the file by default and if they are
configured to use Notepad by default I want it to remain that way
rather than retrieve the text into my app or force the user to use
another app to read the file. I'm...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
