using Find method to search backwards

8 New Member
This line of code will make the Find method search for a search key in a given range if you search from top to bottom:

m_form.richText Box1.Find(searc hKey, searchDownAreaS tart, searchDownAreaE nd, RichTextBoxFind s.WholeWord | RichTextBoxFind s.MatchCase);

I tried this code to make the Find method search from the bottom up (like, find the first instance of the word, starting from the bottom of the richTextBox and going to the first index of 0.):

m_form.richText Box1.Find(searc hKey, searchUpAreaSta rt, searchUpAreaEnd , RichTextBoxFind s.WholeWord | RichTextBoxFind s.MatchCase);

where:

int searchUpAreaSta rt = richTextBox1.Te xt.Length // initially

searchUpAreaSta rt = m_form.richText Box1.Find(searc hKey, searchUpAreaSta rt, searchUpAreaEnd , RichTextBoxFind s.WholeWord | RichTextBoxFind s.MatchCase); // index of keyword found

int searchDownAreaE nd = 0;

So this doesn't work. What could I do to make it search from the bottom up?

Thanks in advance!

Hey folks, I am searching for a string (say "ABC") backwards in a file. First I seek to the end. Then I try to make a check like - do { file.clear (); file.get(c); file.seekg(-2, std::ios::cur);

Hi. I am trying to get through to Microsoft MapPoint Services using ZSI for soap handling. I can generate the service classes and also the soap-requests generated by the service classes seem to be OK. The problem I am facing is that I can't seem to authenticate myself. I have made a small change to ZSI.client so that when I get a "401 Unauthorized" response from the remote server I build up a nice authorization request:

I have a rich text box that I'm trying to search for information. I want to be able to search from the end of the text towards the start, so my first Find method looks like: RTBedit.Find(TextToFind, RTBedit.Text.Length, RichTextBoxFinds.Reverse); This finds the last occurrence of TextToFind in the rich text box perfectly well. I then want to go on to find the next occurrence towards the start of the text, so I code:

From reading the documentation, this should be a relatively easy thing. I have an arraylist of custom class instances which I want to search with an"indexof" where I'm passing an instance if the class where only the "searched" property has a value. I expected to get the index into the arraylist where I could then get the entire class instance. However, the 'indexof' is never calling my overloaded, overrides Equals method. Here is the...

Hello All, I am developing a web front end using the standard datagrid in the 1.1 framework. Currently it allows users to navigate through records 20 at a time via previous and next buttons. This functionality is working nicely and efficiently. I like this because I dont have to grab ALL the records on each trip, just the next or previous 20. I am having a terrible time creating the exact counts for the data grid navigation. I use a...

Hi, I'm in the process of updating an ASP.NET v1.1 web app to v2. The app uses ActiveDirectory a great deal, and I'm trying to use the new System.Collections.Generic namespace where possible, having been advised by several luminaries that that is a "good thing to do"... :-) However, I'm experiencing a problem with the IEnumerable interface. (N.B. I understand fully that I should be using the LDAP provider instead of the WinNT provider...

Note: You may skip to the end of the article if all you want is the perl code. Introduction Uploading files from a local computer to a remote web server has many useful purposes, the most obvious of which is the sharing of files. For example, you upload images to a server to share them with other people over the Internet. Perl comes ready equipped for uploading files via the CGI.pm module, which has long been a core module and allows users...

Is any ColdFusion script I can put on my webpage that will create a search bar so people can type keywords to match it on the current page in my website? It will be exactly like the finder search bar that comes with your browser window, IE; click edit, then find on this page, which brings up the search box. I know that JavaScript can do this. I tried to insert JavaScript to my .cfm page. It doesn't work. Any help will be appreciated. Here...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
