Hi,
how can i set a timer in VS2005 form that will click the button that is on
the form every X time?
THX 3 2913
Avi,
If the timer is on the same form, why not take the code in the event
handler for the form, and place it in a method. Then, you can have your
timer fire, and call that method every time it fires.
Hope this helps.

can somebody explain this problem? it's driving me crazy!
i have a requirement to dynamically create a variable quantity of timers
with associated start button based on the contents of a database. if i
create system timers dynamically, i cannot reference them from the start
button click event handler. the build error is ' <timer name> not
declared>

Hi,
I have a periodic problem which I am having a real time trying to sort.
Background:
An MDI VB app with a DB on SQL 2000.
I have wrapped all the DB access into an object which spawns a thread to
access the database and then displays a modal dialog which allows the user
to cancel the task, if it is taking longer than they want, and shows them a
display of how long the query has been running so far.

Hi. I have created a 'stop watch' program.
The working principle of the program is to declare an integer (say
'intTime'), which is initalized to zero. Once the user clicks the 'Start'
button, the Timer component (the one found at System.Windows.Forms.Timer)
starts ticking (with this code: Timer.Enabled = True). Whenever the timer
ticks, 'intTime' is inclemented by 1 and this updated number is displayed on
the form. The interval of the...

I have a windows application written using VB .NET that encompasses a
countdown timer modal dialog. The timer is a System.Timers.Timer with
an interval of 1 second. AutoReset is not set so accepts the default of
True. The Elapsed event handler updates the dialog box with how long
before it will close, acting as a timer itself. The dialog has a time
to close property which is checked every time the Elapsed event fires.
The problem I have...

Im not sure where to find all the documentation i need for this? I need
to timer since a start button has been pushed, and show a counter on a
page. If they click stop i want to keep the time, and carry on
incrementing it if they click start again.
Any suggestions on code, or reference material for this?

Unaccountably, I cannot re-enable a timer from an background thread. The
disable works fine, I just cannot get it to start back up. There is no
method "InvokeRequired" like there is for windows.forms.controls and I get
no error message about cross thread so I am not sure where the problem is.
I have a "SerialPoll_timer" that every second requests status from a device
on an RS232 port. I use this to determine if the device is on line. ...

I am getting a strange problem with IE7 tabs.
The web application I am working (developed in ASP.Net, .Net 2.0), will show
a popup message with the count down timer 2 minutes before session time out.
The count down timer on popup will start with 120 and will be count down to 0
and if the user doesn't click on the Continue button (which is on popup),
application logs out and the web page will be shown with login page. If the
user clicks...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
