After finishing up my first quarter JavaScript on 12/12/03, I decided
to improve character checking on my project. In my project I only had
to do very basic validation. Therefore, I only had one function to
verify the name fields, age, email and gender.
My question is: if I create a function for each field like the code
below, what would be the best way to organize the functions and call
them? Would I need one main function and place...

Hey again.
I'm still working on my functor class, and now it works with method
functions too; you pass it the method function, as well as the object
you want to be 'this' when the method is called, for example:
struct Shill
{ void Conforming(string, int); }
Shill myShill;
functor<void (string,int)> theFunctor;

Hi All,
I'd like to develop something which has a concept like the
folders-and-files in your PC.
A folder can have subfolders and/or files. The subfolders themselves
have the same characteristics.
This characteristic can also be found in Google Newsgroup, aka Usenet.
A group can have many postings and many other groups.

My first asp.net app is almost "done" and I am stuck. Here is my
situation: I have a "mother" page add_customer.aspx and a"child" user
control add_group.ascx. On the mother page is an "add group" button
that makes the the panel inwhich the add_customer control resides
VISIBLE=True. On the control, the user can edit the list of groups, or
add a new one. After the edit is complete I want to make the panel
again VISIBLE=False, as well as...

I am new to Web Services and .NET development, and I have a question.
I am writing a service that will create a bitmap image and return it to the
client. First, I wrote a method that looked like this:
public System.Drawing.Bitmap CreateImage() {...}
When I tried to create the web reference in my client program, I got an
error message stating that the System.Drawing.Bitmap object could not be
serialized because it does not have a...

Hi,
I've been struggling with this today, I'm developing a DotNet2.0 website in C# that needs to call a long running data query. Obviously this is a good candidate for an Asynchronous call, so the page can carry on rendering whilst the call is taking place and also returning the ASP.NET worker thread to service another page request (for scalability). I have developed a very basic asynchronous object (for testing, that reproduces the same...

in a generic class, can I code the class so that I can call a static
method of the generic class T?
In the ConvertFrom method of the generic TypeConvert class I want to
write, I have a call to the static Parse method of the conversion
class.
if (InValue is string)
return T.Parse((string)InValue);
else
return base.ConvertFrom(context, culture, InValue);

I have a class which is not intended to be instantiated. Instead of using
the class to creating an instance and then operate on it, I use the class
directly, with classmethods. Essentially, the class is used as a function
that keeps state from one call to the next.
The problem is that I don't know what to call such a thing! "Abstract
class" isn't right, because that implies that you should subclass the
class and then instantiate the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
