Hi Gurus! Here is a problem with wxPython. I would like to load bitmaps
and create a mask
for them at once. Here is my idea: the mask colour for the bitmap should
be the colour of
the pixel in the top left corner. (The same way Delphi does with
TImageList.) E.g. the
bitmap should be transparent everywhere with the same colour. I read the
documentation,
and I could not find an easy way to do this. Here is what I have tried:

Assembly asm = Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly();
me = new Bitmap(asm.GetManifestResourceStream("me.gif"));
I have used this before without any problem, but now I get:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' occurred in
system.drawing.dll
Additional information: 'null' is not a valid value for 'stream'.

I've been ripping my hair our trying to get this to work for a week and I can't seem to get it. I'm trying to display a 4BppIndexed Bitmap from within the ntoskrnl.exe file that contains no palette. This bitmap is the one everyone likes to change to customize their boot screen. My goal is not to edit the kernel, but simply to display the bitmap content in much the same way a resource editor does.
My problem is that no matter what I do, the...

At the risk of being publically humiliated, might I ask the following
simple question.
I have a solution with one project. This project, WindowsApplication1,
has one "form" and one "bitmap" (the bitmap created by right clicking
on the project, selecting add new item, then add bitmap file). The
project explorer says my bitmap is called "Bitmap1.bmp".
If I have a function in my project declared as

Hi Al
You can add a Bitmap to a VB class library and set it’s build action to embedded resource. How do you then get that image (i.e. load it into a PictureBox control) from another vb application knowing only the name of the DLL and of the Bitmap
Many thanks for any help with this

Hi,
I have a project with various forms that each include a number of picture
boxes and panels with background images. When these forms first load, they
kind of load in "pieces", with the pictures coming to view consecutively,
even on a 1.6 Ghz processor with 512 MB RAM. The pictures are loaded in the
Form_Load event. Is there a way for them to all load perfectly before the
user sees the form?
Thanks,

I am using a ImageList with a bitmap that contains all the images.
I am currently saving the bitmap in a PictureBox, and load into the
ImageList when the form loads.
How can I save the bitmap into a Resource and load it from there later?
Thanks.

Hello,
I have an bitmap in a resources file containing all icons displayed in
the toolbar. To display the icons I need to cut them out of the bitmap
and add them to an imagelist. The problem is the cutting out. I wrote
the following function:
Public Shared Function CutOutIcon(ByRef vBitmap As Image, _
ByVal iIndex As Integer) As Image

I have a minor problem locating an image file to load as a Bitmap.
A resource file "NudeSusan.jpeg" (which I think is actually a bmp
file, originally taken from a jpeg of model Susan Spears) is loaded
onto the "Resources" tree of the Visual Studio Solutions Explorer, and
correctly works. However, another file, "MyImageFile.png" (which is
also a bmp file, sorry for the confusion, but originally was a png
file), does not work.
How can...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
