few questions about developing Web Part

Hey

IDE: VS .NET 2005

#1
I want to start developing web parts in visual studio 2005 and are wondering
where is the latest version of the web part templates. I did find this
download (the link below), but the file is from 2004 and I don't think the
file is meant to be used in visual studio 2005.... (2 years old) There must
be something newer I must download and install instead... I'm not sure what
it is.... if you have the link to correct web part template/sdk needed for
visual studio 2005, then please give me the links....

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

#2
Is "Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services assembly" the
Microsoft.Share point.dll?

#3
Is it so that I need to have Windows Server 2003 (Visual Studio 2005 also)
installed on the computer I develop Web Parts on? I wonder because AFAIK
WinXp haven't got the "Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services assembly"...
Maybe it could be created on a WinXp computer if the "Microsoft Windows
SharePoint Services assembly ( Microsoft.Share point.dll)" on Windows Server
2003 is shared... so that WinXp computer has access the drive where the
Microsoft.Share point.dll is located? If it's possible to develop Web Parts
on a WinXp computer using Visual Studio 2005, how is it setup so that it has
access to "Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services assembly"?

(I prefer developing on a WinXp computer, if I must do it on a Windows
Server 2003 computer I must first remove WinXP and install Windows Server
2003.... takes time, when I say WinXp I mean WinXp pro sp2)

Please help me with these questions... I'm about to start learning Web Parts
and are wondering about these fundamental questions

Hi, I am a previous Micro$oft desertee (moved from VB/VC++ to Java before this whole DOTNET thing) because I had several issues with Micro$oft. I am not completely in love with Windoze, but I have to say that Java SWING sucks BIG TIME for developing and deploying desktop applications (especially on Windoze). Unfortunately, I have been dragged kicking and screaming back to my old haunts - but the landscape has changed somewhat and I...

Hello, I have a few rather urgent questions that I hope someone can help with (I need to figure this out prior to a meeting tomorrow.) First, a bit of background: The company I work for is developing a web-based application, one part of which involves allowing the user the ability to page through transaction "history" information. The _summary_ history table will have the following fields: ServiceName, Date, User-Ref1, User-Ref2,...

I've been developing asp.net web apps for a year using Dreamweaver MX, and we finally purchased vs.net 03. I'm stumbling around trying to use the IDE and I have a few questions... maybe someone could point me to a good tutorial or book but I haven't found what I'm looking for yet. 1) When I create a new web app project, does it have to be in my inetpub/wwwroot folder? Can I create a virtual host in IIS and put the project in my...

I have gotten great help in this forum. I am working by my self, developing with a new technology, and it would be extremely time consuming and frustrating without this forum. So who are the folks answering all the questions? Are you microsoft employees or just kind helpful people or what? If you are microsoft employees, is this your full time job to answer questions here, or do you just do it a few hours a day?

After 3 years of using DB2 on Linux, I'm leaving my current employers to go work for a SQL Server shop instead. In order to find my replacement, they're trying to put together a set of questions to get both some understanding of how wide candidates knowledge is, and how much DB2 specifics they know. Of the questions below, how many do you think are useful in determining if you've got somebody capable of keeping a DB2 instance up,...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
