Using FileSystemWatch er Created+ events to monitor network files

Ash
I have Server A & Server B.
A process that implements FileSystemWatch er on Server B is watching for File
Created events on Server A using something like \\ServerA\c$\My Files .
Server A got reboot. How come no exceptions where thrown in the
FileSystemWatch er processes running on Server B??

Did anybody notice that. Am i implementing somthing incorrectly?
Thanks.

I'm setting up a watched folder using FileSystemWatcher. When I drop a small file into the watched folder, I can respond to a .Created event and process the file with other code. However, if I try copying a large file into the watched folder, the .Created event is fired off immediately and not when the file is finished copying. I have tried waiting for a certain number of .Changed events to be fired after the initial .Created event, and...

Hello, I have some weird problem with the FileSystemWatcher. I have developed an application that monitors a network directory for file changes of a certain file type. The program runs well for a week. Then suddenly the monitored network server starts to behave crazily. It sends to my Sync Server dozens of replicated file change events. Say one file was changed two days ago, but the monitored server still keeps sending me many many...

I want to develop an installation watcher to watch over programs as they install themselves to the PC. The FileSystemWatcher will enable me to see all files created or changed within any subdirecty of any specified path. But, that's *too* much information. Windows is constantly changing files and I don't want any of that information (besides.....all of that info could cause a buffer overflow in the FileSystemWatcher). Is there a way...

Hi all, I had made a program to watching files in my directory. I had used a instance of FileSystemWatcher to do my work. And I had add some events of the FileSystemWatcher , for example onChange, onRename and so on. And I had made this program as a windows service. As I know, if I delete a file from my directory, this behavior will active this program and do something what I want to do. But after I install this program as a windows service...

Hi, I developed a filewatcher service to monitor file creation on a network drive - 90% time it works fine and from time to time I found out that the newly created file on that network drive does not trigger the event - all I have to do is to restart the service. I kind of suspect the reason is when the target matchine where monitored drive is on gets rebooted, the filesystemwatcher lost its "monioring" capability, is that true? if...

Hi, I want to use the FileSystemWatcher in a Windows Service. I read an article, where the author created the FileSystemWatcher object in a seperate thread and when the event is fired, he started a working thread for processing the file, created a new FileSystemWatcher (as he said for real time processing), and then called the join method for the first thread. I can't really see the sence in this. Aren't the events of the...

I have been asked to write a program to monitor a certain directory structure and to copy all files created there to optical media for archival storage. It seems that it would be simple to monitor the directory for file creation and just copy the files. I am concerned that while doing the copy a "Created" event may get lost and the file not get archived. How would I handle this? Would it be feasible to put the paths of the newly...

Has anyone else noticed that the FileSystemWatcher raises the changed event twice when a file is changed? Do you have any idea why this is the case?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
