Business Rule (Engine) vs Data Validation

What is the different between Business rule & data validation?
How much impact does it give in OOP concept?

Thanks,
Kid

Could you open the topic wide? What's the issue? Where perform validation or

Business rules determine how data is validated. Data validation is the
process of ensuring that data conforms to a business rule.

Related to another topic I just posted, I wanted to discuss ways to optimize the validation of very large (>100MB) XML documents. First, I have no idea if something like this already exists; it may even be the typical implementation for all I know. At any rate, it occurs to me that the set of business rules that need to be validated against an XML document represent a limited set of nodes at any given time (while parsing through the...

Hi all, I am doing a project for university whereby i have to implement a simple database related to a frozen foods company. I am having some trouble though creating a validation rule for one of my fields. I have a table called "Product" and two of the fields included in this table are "Cost Price" and "Retail Price". I need to create a validation rule so that the Cost Price is always less than the Retail Price. I have tried...

A97. A database has a table: tblA which has a single text field, B. It is a primary field, indexed and no duplicates. It is used as a lookup for table tblC. A form based on tblA is used to add new records. The Validation Rule: <>!! was made using the expression builder. The rule produces this error: The expression you entered in the Form control's Validation Rule doesn't contain the Automation object 'Tables' If I use simply: ...

I am developing a Windows Forms application in VB.NET that will use .NET remoting to access the data tier classes. A very simple way I have come up with is by creating typed (.xsd) datasets. For example dsParts.xsd and including that in the data tier. I then will create a class that looks like this Public Class CPart Inherits dsParts

I don't have clear reasons why we need business logic layer and data logic layer instead of having only data logic layer. Are there any good reasons for that?

Hi, I am confused about the business layer vs. the dal layer and I could use some help..... I. If the DAL layer has all the methods to work with the db with a typed data sey (e.g. ShowProducts(), InsertProducts() ), then why does the business layer need to wrap these methods with set/get?

What is the best way to apply a Validation Rule - or rather, where is the best place to put it? Is there an advantage to putting it on the field in the table vs setting the validation rule on the form the control is on? Basically I have a number of controls in a form that are required, and to check it I am setting the Validation Rule to "<>"IsNull" so that when the user tries to tab through/click out of a required area without entering...

Hello: I am trying to find what is the very best approach to business objects in Windows Forms. Windows Forms presents an awesome opportunity to use DataTables and I would like to continue doing so. I have worked with dynamically generated DataTables with customized DataRows. However, these classes are usually pretty limited. For instance, you are limited to a select few data types and you can't deal with nulls as well as desired (in...

Hello: Is it me, or is handling the Validating event for every control on a form extremely annoying? It is especially annoying when my business logic repeats most of the validation. Some things you can handle in the business logic. But other things, like ensuring a textbox represents a number or null, requires a developer's intervention. I am asking whether or not there is an easier way of doing validation for data bound controls.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
