Hi
I use PEAR Cache to cache the frontend pages of a content managed web site.
Now I update the contents of a page, and of course the updated contents will
only be displayed after the expiring period of the cached file.
After thinking and googling a lot I see several possible approaches to for
handling this, each of which has it's downsides:
- Use a very short expiring period. (Downside: Makes caching only relevant

Hello,
I'd like to have some suggestions/pointers to how I could implement caching
of generic data used by a set of web methods. I don't need to cache the
response of web methods but of generic data (in the form of key/value
pairs).
..
Based on my current knowledge I have the following two choices:
1) using the HttpApplication class

It seems to me that using static classes for caching as versus the
Application object has certain advantages. First, the cached values are
strongly typed, secondly, it's not ASP.NET specific so the same code can be
used for other .NET apps. I can't think of anything bad about it. I only
plan to use it for a small number of non-volatile values (but needs to be
read from DB or other sources once) so it's like I'd put everything in a...

I have an ASP.NET app that calls into some VB.NET components. It passes in
the current application's cache (HttpContext.Current.Cache).
These VB.NET components also get called by a non-ASP.NET application (in
this case a VB.NET windows service). I'd like to create something like the
cache in this service to hold application-wide information (like database
connection strings) and then pass that into the components.
As a test, I tried...

Is the only way to cache data in Memory, such as a Dom Document, to use System.Web.Caching namespace?
I can't seem to find anything else, but what if you want to cache something in memory and you don't have a web app ?

I am thinking about using Caching application block in my web
application, for the performance reasons.
My ideal sitiuation would be if i could plug in the application block
between my Persistence layer and database, so that objects are created
from the cache and cost of CRUd operation can be avoided....
the problem each object is not having a unique key, and caching
application block does not provides any typed cache functionality,...

I need to implement caching for a large enterprise application and we are
planning to use the newest Caching Application Blocks. (Enterprise Library
Jan. 2006)
We want to cache Business Entities (DTO's) at the service layer and have a
few questions.
Are there other options than using Microsoft Caching blocks - possibly open
source?

My site is a bit slow showing the main page so I thought caching query
result in PHP will improve performace.
Then I read MySQL documentation and saw that MySQL does have a caching
feature.
So... now I dont know if doing the PHP caching is worth the pain.
Would there be any noticed performace improvement if I cache query
results in PHP, considering that MySQL is already caching the queries?
Thanks

I'm creating a custom handler that does not extend Page (only implements
IHttpHandler) - and I would like for its output to be cached to improve
runtime performance. I would like to leverage ASP.NET's output caching
capabilities that are already in place for standard Page requests. How can I
leverage the existing output caching mechanisms with my custom HTTP handler?
I'd like the standard output caching options to be available, if possible...

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
