Greetings,
Our former SQL Server 2000 DBA backed up everything in a single disk
file. By everything I mean, full backup, differential backup and
transaction logs. See below for details of how the backup is currently
set up. When I did 'view contents' of DBBackup, I saw it contained the
mixture of log, full and diff backups of verious dates. She has quit.
Other coworkers said (in a not-sure tone) she was able to restore the
databases...

Can anyone recommend the easiest way to get a full copy of a database from
one server to another. The servers are not part of the same organization or
network.
I have received a backup of the database created with enterprise manager but
am unable to restore it into a database of the same name on my server.
Thanks,
Kevin

I am trying to restore a 200 GB database on to a newly formatted SAN
volume. The restore has been running for hours but there doesn't seem
to be a lot of disk activity on the disks I'm restoring to and I'm
wondering if that's anything to worry about.
Using perfmon I'm monitoring the % Disk time for the disk I'm restoring
to. It will show around 99% for a minute or so and then drop to zero
for 3-4 minutes. Is this normal? I know that...

Hi all,
I'm writing some code for disaster recovery. I need to have an application
which accesses Sql Server to determine if the local database is up or not
and then if not go to the secondary server.
So like this:
1. Determine if Sql Server A is up, if so is the database active.
2. If no on either count, go to Sql Server B/database.

Our web application requires that when a new Organization is created,a
separate Database is to be created for the corresponding organization,
so that each organization remains a separate entity with their

Hello.
Occasionally on my production server when I run an automated script to restore a database from a backup it hangs and the database is put in restoring mode and just stays there, requiring me to delete the database and restore the backup manually and causing everything else to timeout (it's part of an update process that includes database and web files).
The code is called from a VB.Net DLL against the Master database and is as...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
