Can't edit xml files?

I can edit XML files fine on my work machine but not the home machine.
They are both running WinXP Pro with VS.NET 2005 final.

On the home machine, content in an XML or XSL file is highlighted. For

example, these are highlighted: html, head, body, xml, td. There are
also whole lines or just areas of lines of content that are lightly
grayed. I can't edit any of the content. It's as if it is locked. I
can add content and save though. But no carriage returns. When I type
in new content, it is
highlight in with a dark blue background and white text. As if I've
selected it via the mouse.

In Tools | Options | Text Editor | XML, the Formatting and
Miscellaneous options have this:
"An error occurred loading this property page".

I can edit these files fine in NotePad. They aren't read only. I
have tried a repair on VS.NET but it didn't help. I didn't an
uninstall/reinstall and that didn't help either. Am I possibly missing
some component for Studio?

Any one have any ideas what is going on with these XML/XSL files in
VS.NET? My CS files look fine.

Thanks,
Brett

Hello, -I wrote a script that you use it to add products in the database. -Each product is associated with files. -In the Form to add the product you have to enter the product name in a textfield and below there are $no_of_add_file filefields. $no_of_add_file is an integer that determines the Maximum number of filefields that you want to associate/add for each product. So it succesfully adds the product and the files in a database and...

I am writing a program that will search xml files for some of our dev team here and list the files in a list box. I would like to be able to double-click on the file name and have the file open with the users preferred editor. The problem is that some of our teams uses different editors and I want the action to launch the file with the edit verb so that the users editor will launch, regardless of what that program is. Is there a way to...

Is there a Edit and Continue capability in VB.NET yet? I realize it may not be the same as VB6, but I thought there was going to be some form of this? Thanks for any info, WayneM

I am *extremely* annoyed by this, but apparently in VS2005 you cannot edit any of your source files while the debugger is running. Why is that? Is there an option I can set that will let me do this? It is greatly hampering my ability to debug my code properly. -BKN

I'm creating a simple dynamic website that includes html files from a database (MySql), saved as medium blob. Everything works fine, but now i'd like to create a web interface to edit this blobl files on the database. Is it possible? Should I use strings instead of blobs on the database? any idea or link to some tutorial would be great. thanks Snaggy

I need to edit the text in many files so I'm writing a small routine to do this. First I have a method that loops through all the files in a directory and passes the full file path to another method (ReadFile). I'm going to use this to edit the file paths in all of my WMP play lists. When I run this the string variable is not being changed using the replace method. Here's what I have: Private Sub ReadFile(ByVal path As String)

hi all, to anyone that has had difficulty getting edit-and-continue to work in thier project: I had a project that I converted from vs.net2003, but edit-and-continue would not work. So, I started a brand-new project, and added every file individually. I have not yet added the project to sourcesafe. I only added the xsd files for the datasets, and let the custom tool

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
