I have a website which has both secure and non-secure
pages. I want to uses forms authentication. How do I
accomplish this?
Originally I had my web.config file in the root with Forms
Authentication set up and it worked just fine. Then I
realized that I needed to have some pages unsecure.
I then created 2 directories. One named Secure and the
other named Public. I placed my web.config file in my

Hi,
I am automating Access reports to PDF using PDF Writer 6.0. I've
created a DTS package to run the reports and schedule a job to run this
DTS package. If I PC Anywhere into the server on where the job is
running, the job runs sucessfully, PDF files got generated, everything
is good. If I scheduled the job to run at the time that I am not
logged into the server, Access is not able to print to the printer.
The error is pretty...

I am creating a HTTPS File Transfer App using ASP.NET and C#. I am
utilizing ActiveDirectory and windows security to manage the
permissions. Why reinvent the wheel, right? Everything so far is
working well with the Active Directory. The problem I am having is
with adding File Permissions to a directory. I am currently using
some code courtesy of "Willy Denoyette "

Is it possible for me to create a class library DLL and have it read it's
configuration settings from the web.config of the ASP.NET application
referencing it?
IE - if I call ConfigurationSettings.GetConfig("somesection") in one of the
base class dll methods, will it/can it return the settings from the
web.config?
For example, I would like to create a base class library of utility classes
that can be used with any ASP.NET application....

I'm trying to use ASP objects (basically formed and populated based on
Web.Config settings) and I want to use them in a different non-asp program
with minimal reprogramming. So, my question is how do I mock up what ASP
does to read the Web.Config file? I've tried messing around in the
System.Configuration library and haven't been able to find anything from
taking a quick look at the objects and their methods (for the goal of
populating the...

Prior to VS2005 I configured my applications via the appSettings section of
the app.config file. When I developed a class library, I used
ConfigurationManager.AppSettings(settingName) syntax and the compiler didn't
care that no such settings existed yet. The settings were ultimately managed
in the app.config file of the host applicaton that used the classes in the
library.
I'm not sure how to handle configuration settings for a class...

Hi there.
First of all let me apologise for this is a somewhat general question to
which I would be interested in any opinions.
As far as I can see when I create a web application the recommended location
for the database is the app_data folder. The recommended location for code
files and datasets/table adapters appears to be the app_code folder. This set
up appears to work reasonably well although it results in the all the code...

I cannot get this to work. I added an app.config to a project i reference
from my web application project (vs 05) but can see no way to access the
settings within it.
the other thing is that I expected this config file (.dll.config) to get put
in my web app's bin folder along with it's .dll file when i did a build, and
that didnt' happen either.
do I have access to the app.config in my project or is it worthless? If so
why can i add...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
