I'm having a problem getting rid of newlines.
say I have this situation:
$cat = "A nice\n cat";
The "\n" is an escape character which creates a newline right there.
Now, how would I get rid of the newline in that string?

We are trying write a new ASP.NET page to work with an existing
stateless ASP application. The ASP application creates a cookie and
of course stores the cookie values as escaped strings (using the
vbscript escape function). I am have a terrible time 'unescaping'
that string with C# under ASP.NET.
I have tried the following:
HttpUtility.UrlDecode
HttpUtility.HtmlDecode (this should not work but I tried it)...

When attempting to use characters above 0x8F in the QueryString (URL Escaped
of course) these do not work when the CodePage is set to 1252 e.g. using
test.aspx?test=%a3, ('£') the parameter 'test' shows up in trace.axd as being
empty!
A similar problem exists when entering characters into an input box (see
code below) and then pressing submit e.g. '£' & '€'
Removing the CodePage setting (which I guess uses UTF-8 by default) does...

In regular expressions, the Regex.Escape() and Regex.Unescape() methods convert between plain text and text with escape characters
My question is simple. In HTML <, & gt;, etc are escape characters that represent < and > respectively. Are there methods in .NET that convert between plain text and escaped text?

Its done in the 2005 debugger so I hope its available as a class ??.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
