rich text editor

I would like to know how people these days are creating their own rich
text editors for use in web pages. Does anyone know where to find
material on how to go about doing this? I would just like a basic
control for bolding and highlighting text. Do I need to learn active-x?
Can it be done in .net?

You do not need to learn ActiveX.

ASP.NET works just fine with this sort of thing. In fact the server-side
technology is largely irrellevant as everything's done on the client using
DHTML/JavaScript.

Here is a full-featured text editor (not free):
http://www.cutesoft.net/ASP.NET+WYSI...r/default.aspx

Google can help you find some free ones as well as instructions for rolling
your own. Among other things you can search for:
"rich text editor" + "dhtml"

-HTH

Ok, but I suppose ill have to look into it, but I dont understand
really how the text boxes will be showing rendered text. I suppose
there is an illusion to the whole process. Thanks for the link. Have
you had a play with creating your own? Dont suppose you have any direct
links to helper sites for writing your own? Just incase I cant find any

Thanks again

There really is no reason to write your own - there are several
well-established and free editors available. As someone who has actually has
gone to the trouble of writing one from scratch
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/xsdheditor), I highly recommend you just
use an existing implementation.

Personally, I recommend this one:

Good luck,

yeah I know, but Im one of those people who like to know how things
work. Thats all, if I was to implement it in a production site, then I
would use a robust pre-written solution.

I found this Rich Text Editor and I've been trying to recreate it in my own application. I've had trouble with the COMCTL.ImageListCtrl and the COMCTL.Toolbar to recreate the toolbar. And I've had trouble with COMCTL.SBarCtrl in recreating the status bar. Does anyone have any experience with these or know of any website that explaines how to use these? http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=5545 ...

I want to create an email message with a HTML body and email it out. I know how to create/send the email (for the most part.) 1. Any ideas or examples of using an ASP.NET rich text editor so that a user can edit rich text, then save the results as an HTML page (either straight to a page or into a db)? 2. How about the opposite: An HTML page the is opened up in the editor so the user can modify it (with rich text) and save it (like to...

I'm doing a Rich Text Editor (WYSIWYG) in javascript for a game for kids. I'm doing a special case in with every keystroke from A-Z creates a background and foreground color for that letter, witch is the same. The problem is editing doesn't work that well. For example when I type: ABCDFG , I get this code generated and displayed by the Rich Text Editor: <P><FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff00" color=#ffff00>a<FONT...

My newsweblog has ASP pages with news articles and a commenting system. The comments are posted, and to read them the reader clicks on the headline of the comment, and it opens up in a pop up window. I added this "whizzywig rich text editor" to the comments textbox where readers comment on articles. Whizzywig is a javascript rich text editor, and appears to work fine. I type the comment using the editor when i need to and then click...

Hi all, I am developing one online forum kind of website where users have the facility to submit there comments and to do that we r using one custom made rich text editor. Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
