I'm trying in vain to set the icon for the executable generated
by py2exe. According to various sources there are two answers:
1) Do it on the command line:
python setup.py py2exe --icon foo.ico
That generates a usage error:
error: --icon not recognized

Apologies in advance for the long post - I wanted to be sure I included all
the relevant details. The answer is probably very, very simple.
I am doing something stupid here, but I don't know what it is. I'm writing
an application with a Tkinter GUI (Python 2.4, Tcl/Tk 8.4.) and I want to
put a custom icon on the main window.
I've followed...

Hello.
I have a MS Access front-end working with PostgreSQL database.
I have successfully created saved File DSN. My paa-through queries are
referring to that file as well as linked tables.
But I don't understand what will happen when I distribute my front-end to
some other PC. How will Access know where is File DSN ?
Is there any way that I...

There are a number of things about using unmanaged resources in Windows
Forms programming that is unclear to me.
In C++, if you loaded an icon resource using "ExtractIcon()", the resource
was valid until you called "DestroyIcon()". If you didn't, you had a leak.
In C#, I need to load icons from unmanaged programs (.exe, dll) at run time...

From what I have read, there isn't really a converter to icon format..it
becomes a png file. I tried:
1: Dim bmp As Bitmap = CType(Bitmap.FromFile("C:\myfolder\file.bmp"),
Bitmap)
2: Dim ico As Icon = Icon.FromHandle(bmp.GetHicon())
3: Dim file As FileStream = New
FileStream("C:\myfolder\file.ico",FileMode.OpenOrCreate)

I'd like to use the same icon for my project's EXE file and forms. The
icon may change so I need a way to put the icon file name in a variable
and assign it to the icon propery of all forms. When assigned at
design time, the following code is generated:
this.Icon = ((System.Drawing.Icon)(resources.GetObject("$this.Icon")));
How can I do...

The following program simply sets the icon of a form called form1. When I
get the name of the embedded icon using GetManifestResourceNames(), I store
the name in a string variable called s. The value of s is "test2.icon1.ico".
This program will compile and run just fine from visual studio .net 2003
using .net 1.1 and also will compile and...

I have a shared project that contains icons and bitmaps that are used
throughout my suite of applications.
I have to set Form.Icon, PictureBox.Image, etc. using code because the form
designer can't see the icons and bitmaps unless they're in the local project.
This is only slightly inconvenient compared to the benefits from managing the...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
