Auto highlighted combo boxes - why??

Hello,

On a form, I have a tab control with two tab pages. On one tab page, I have
about seven group boxes which I hide and make visible when buttons are
clicked on the tab page. No problems there.

In one of these group boxes, I have a few combo boxes, however some of them
are 'highlighted' for some reason when the groupbox is made visible. They're
NOT selected nor have focus!. When the user tabs to, or selects then moves
away from them, the highlighting disappears. I have no idea why? I've
checked the tabordering and there doesn't seem to be any conflicts.

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

I'm using .NET 1.1 C# with a standard Windows Forms project.

Jack.

Hello all, I just discovered something (stop me if you've heard this before....) that was causing me a significant performance hit when opening a form with subforms. To speed up loading the form, I set the rowsources of its, and its subforms', combo boxes in the "Enter" events of the combo boxes. That's the standard trick for not loading the rowsource unless/until the user actually needs the combo box. For example:

I am having a great deal of difficulty with a form. Basically, I would like to enter an account # and have the account #, patient first name, and patient last name automatically fill. The form Record Source table is "InitialInfoFromSW". I want to enter an account #, have it look in another table called "AS400 Imported Data", and automatically fill in the fields called "LastName" and "FirstName" into the form's text boxes. It was...

I have a windows form, many combo boxes, i create items and add to the items collection in code. When viewing form, many combos have their text selected, highlighted. Is there a preferred way to pre-select the first item in a combo without highlighting text all the time? I am using Combo.SelectedIndex = 0; after populating the items collection. Thanks in advance! I have five comboboxes each has a item listed populated by hand in the IDE. Each has the text property bound to a text field in the database. When I initially fill the dataset and display the page all of these combo boxes display the correct data, but all of them are highlighted as if they have focus. If I click in on and then click another control the highlight goes away. I have a tabbed interface and If I navigate to another tab and...

A small issue. I use a combo box and when I want to have the value, I just type and the autofill finds the value. How to have the old value cleared when I want to type another value lateron? The old value is still in the window of the combo-box. Bart Acc 2003

I have a combo box. I can choose the value. But it is also possible to type in the field and the right value will appear when typing. But before start typing I need to clear the present value, otherwise I start typing in the middle of the value. How to have the present value auto selected (highlighted) when I focus on it and when I type this value disappear. The same as when I select a value in Word etc... Bart Acc 2003

I have a form which contains some buttons. The buttons use some of the standard images that come with access 2003 (e.g., the move next record image, or the sort ascending/descending images). The default behavior for access is to give the button a "highlighted" appearance when the button is hovered with the mouse. My problem is that these buttons permanently have that "highlighted" appearance after they have been clicked. With my XP theme,...

I have 3 tables of information feeding into 4 combo boxes on my main form (DR Form). I have as many list boxes (acting as text boxes) as there are fields in each one of the 3 tables. Once selecting from the combo box, I have all the combo boxes, using afterupdate, populating their respective list boxes. These text boxes are directly correlated to the combo box selection using SQL. Here is an example from the afterupdate event in the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
