Programmaticall y disabling Windows Control Events

Hi

I wanted to programmaticall y disable events like SelectedIndexCh anged without
using a boolean flag, which indeed I find a quick and dirty solution. So, I
found a
piece of code that do this more elegant:

* How to disable event in C#?
Link: http://tinyurl.com/alsge
Group: microsoft.publi c.dotnet.framew ork.compactfram ework

But I saw it is limited to ComboBoxes and to the SelectedIndexCh anged Event
and
I want to generalize it to an object of type control and to every possible
event. To
give you an idea, I will post some of my ugly code:

public static EventHandler DisableSelected IndexChanged(Co ntrol control)
{
FieldInfo fieldInfo;
object fieldObject;
EventHandler handler = null;

fieldInfo = control.GetType ().GetField("Se lectedIndexChan ged",
BindingFlags.In stance | BindingFlags.No nPublic);
if (fieldInfo != null)
{
fieldObject = fieldInfo.GetVa lue(control);
if (fieldObject is EventHandler)
{
handler = (EventHandler)f ieldObject;

//This is the part I want to avoid
if (control is ComboBox)
((ComboBox)cont rol).SelectedIn dexChanged -= handler;
else if (control is ListBox)
((ListBox)contr ol).SelectedInd exChanged -= handler;
else if (control is ListView)
((ListView)cont rol).SelectedIn dexChanged -= handler;
else if (control is TabControl)
((TabControl)co ntrol).Selected IndexChanged -= handler;
}
}
return handler;
}

Is it possible to avoid the casting and get a pointer to the
SelectedIndexCh anged
property, then apply the -= operation over it? How? As I could understand,
FieldInfo.GetVa lue(control) only returns the handler, but not the
SelectedIndexCh anged property.

Thanks in advanced,
Josef

Hello, I've been looking on the web for a solution to this problem: I create a set of checkboxes, and 2 buttons: - one is labeled "All" - the other is labeled "None" Clicking "All" is supposed to check all the checkboxes, which it does (that's not rocket science ;), but the 'onchange' event does not get triggered.

Hi, I hope someone can help. I have a main form which mostly fills the Access window. In the bottom half of this form I have a tab control to display various types of data related to the main form record. In each page of the tab control, there are three buttons: Add, Update, Delete. Any of these buttons will open another, smaller form to add, update or delete the related data record. Originally, I had placed the smaller form such...

There are references to using the wndproc form sub to trap and swallow the mousewheeel events - but they don't get there when a combobox (or many other controls) has the focus.. Yet the MSDN does suggest this is a way to stop the mousewheel scrolling a combobox anyone know the REAL answer??? Thanks Roger

Hi, I'm working with VWD and i defined programmatically a button (in code-behind) with an ID. So I expect to see beside "Page Events" and "Form1" my button "b1" in order to use the Click event. But it doesnt' appear. After saving the code-behind file, i only see "Page Events" and "Form1". If i define the button declarativally, i see it. But i need to define it programmatically. Can anybody tell me how to do? I also tried with...

Hi All, I got a real doozy here. I have read hundreds upon hundreds of forum posts and found numerous others who have replicated this problem, but have yet to find a solution. Through testing I have been able to find the cause of the problem, and will describe it here first textually and then through a code example. The purpose of what I am trying to do is to create a postback-free web application through the use of ASP.net AJAX UpdatePanels...

Hello: I am sure this question comes up a lot. I need to disable the controls on my Windows forms so that when the BindingSource is empty some the controls bound to it will be disabled. This will make it clear to the user that they have to create a new item first before they start working. This needs to be an easy process because there are many, many forms.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
