Share cache / dictionary accross processes

I want to be able to share a cache of data objects and their lookup
dictionary
among several processes on the same PC.

I don't want to use IPC coms to a "cache server" but want to
have near native memory speeds for access.

I am familiar with approaches like
http://www.codeproject.com/dotnet/globalcache.asp
Does .net provide someway to overload the memory handling of a class

to use a shared memory area ?

I need both the Dictionary (or equivalent) to be shared as well as the
object
the Dictionary keys point to.

Thanks

Hi, I have been trying to find a good article that would explain the scalability of the cache and application variables accross a web farm. I believe that application variables will not scale accross a web farm, however I am undecieded about settings stored in the cache. If anybody can shed any light on this for me or point me in the direction of good articles on the subject then it would help mr a great deal.

Here's some of my current notions on pgsql performance tuning strictly as it relates to pgsql tuning parameters in the context of a dedicated linux or hpux server. I'm particularly focusing on the shared_buffers setting. I invite any corrective or confirming feedback. I realize there are many other hugely important performance factors outside this scope. One key aspect of pgsql performance tuning is to adjust the memory ...

I want to cache a dataset on a server via a web service. I was thinking of caching it in a session object and returning the session ID as a string in the web service back to the windows client. Then I want the windows client to call a aspx page passing in the sessionID as a parameter and therefore could access the dataset for further processing. So, from the web service call, how do I: 1) get the session ID 2) then from the aspx page,...

Hi, There is an Open Tracker item against urllib2 library python.org/sf/735515 which states that. urllib / urllib2 should cache the results of 301 (permanent) redirections. This shouldn't break anything, since it's just an internal optimisation from one point of view -- but it's also what the RFC (2616, section 10.3.2, first para) says SHOULD happen. I am trying to understand, what does it mean. Should the original url be avaiable to...

This might be more information than necessary, but it's the best way I can think of to describe the question without being too vague. The task: I have a list of processes (well, strings to execute said processes) and I want to, roughly, keep some number N running at a time. If one terminates, I want to start the next one in the list, or otherwise, just wait.

I need to create Dlinq entity property value caches for every entity and every property so that all entity caches can cleared if entity of this type is changed. Entity class method uses this as: string GetCustomerNameById( string customerId ) { var cache = CacheManager.Get<Customer,string, string>("CustomerName"); string res; if (cache.TryGetValue(customerId , out res)) return res;

Hello, I have a dictionary made with objects which contain a control element, the control element is added to a Page when I want to edit the dictionary content. Hi The documentation for System.Web.Caching.Cache states that it is "thread safe". Does this mean that if I access System.Web.Caching.Cache from several places in my application access to the items in the cache is synchronised so I don't get problems with setting/getting the same item at the same time?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
