HELP - Global hooks

Hello,

I'm doing a kind of Windows TaskBar application and I've found a problem.
When I want to show open application's buttons I need to search in each
Process running at PC and system becomes too slow. I thinked to modificate
the process by using a global hook to intercept Window Opening, but only two
events are received by using managed code: Mouse and Keyboard events.

Could you help me with that problem or sugest alternative solutions? I've
used Kennedy.Managed Hooks and I've tried to modify source code to intercept
all shell messages, but I haven't be able to do this.

Thanks.
Victor.

If requiring Windows 2000 or later is acceptable, then I suggest you
look at the RegisterShellHo okWindow API. It can give you the
notifications you need as regular window messages.

If not you need a global WH_SHELL hook. Don't try to implement that in
managed code.

Hi Please help because I'm really stuck: I'm trying to write an application in C# which can be used to track the mouse pointer position on any window. I'm trying to use a Global mouse hook to do this but with limited success. According to the documentation (as I understand it) you can only do Global hooks in ..Net if the delegate procedure passed to SetWindowsHookEx is external.

It seems that this chap has proven this claim wrong (at least for mouse and keyboard hooks): http://www.codetools.com/useritems/globalhook.asp

What is a "hook" and how does that help me in csharp? I've seen a lot of talk about that from C++ people were were "worried" about that in coming to C#. I am still newer at c# and not that experienced with C++ and the Win API. I have used a lot of VB. Can you give me a starting point on my question? I know I am gonna get it for saying this, but I am familiar with some C/C++ programming.

I'm using BCB 6, under Win XP everything works fine (functions are in dll of course, etc.). But under Win 98 my program (without any communicates) execute normal, but not working at all.

I am setting up Authentication that I want to put in multiple Web Sites on my server. I found a good article on this and am looking at moving my code from my Global.asax file to an HTTP Module. This works fine. But I was curious about what would happen if I left the Global.asax code in (which is identical to the HTTPModule code) as well as added the HTTPModule. Both call the same event and both sets of code is executed.

I am trying to modify another application's window (Google Talk) to insert some UI of my own. I think the best method would be to install a remote local hook in gtalk's thread that intercepts the paint message and injects the custom UI. From the reading I've done, it is possible to install a system hook with an unmanaged stub that passes execution off to a managed C# delegate (http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/GlobalSystemHook.asp), but...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
