Why the label.text is not showing up?

I'm working with a Window based application. I have a small form with just 1
label control which is set as Enabled and Visible. Its text is in black
telling users to please wait while application is updating DB. However, the
form pops up but the label.text is hot showing at all. What should I check
to make this work?

Thanks, Alpha

Could you post a short but complete program which demonstrates the
problem?

See http://www.pobox.com/~skeet/csharp/complete.html for details of
what I mean by that.

Are you by any chance updating the text property and then doing a lot
of work all in the UI thread? Or perhaps updating the text property
from a different thread?

See http://www.pobox.com/~skeet/csharp/t...winforms.shtml

Hello all, I have ASP.NET label controls tied to a datasource (so text will vary in length depending on the record). In IE everything looks great--text is wrapped if needed. In Netscape and Opera, the text extends horizontally and does not wrap. Any ideas would be most appreciated! Thanks,

Hello, I have a simple form with some input boxes. After validation if one fails, then I would like to at the top of the page say something like "The following fields in red are required" and then change the label in front of the textbox or dropdown list to red... is this possible with asp.net? It seems you can only put a RequiredFieldValidator on the page, and if it fails validation then that text is displayed... ? Thanks

Hello, I am pulling data from a SQL Server table. One field that is (varchar 4000) is used to show notes. I am using a FormView for showing and editing the data. When the form is in Item view, the text runs together. All the line breaks are missing. When I enter into Edit mode, the text is formatted as it was entered (line breaks). How can I fix this so that when in "Item" mode, the line breaks show?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
