How to determine if a socket is disposed

In my code I have the below callback. The socket I am connected to is
dropped by the other end it would be nice to not set off the exception. As
you can see from the code I check if r is null and if the async state is
null but I am still getting the below error.

Is there a better way of handling this?

Regards,
John

Code:
private void Send_Callback(S ystem.IAsyncRes ult r)
{
try
{
if(r!=null && r.AsyncState != null)
((Socket)r.Asyn cState).EndSend (r);
}
catch(System.Th reading.ThreadA bortException)
{
System.Diagnost ics.Debug.Write Line("Monitor thread worker (Send
callback):Abort ing");
}
catch(Exception ex)
{
this.onExceptio n(ex);
Utils.frmError. WriteError("Mon itor thread worker (Send callback):", ex);
}
}

Error:

Exception:Canno t access a disposed object named "System.Net.Soc kets.Socket".
Object name: "System.Net.Soc kets.Socket".

Hi! I have a problem with an UDP socket. I create socket and call BeginReceiveFrom to use the socket async. But the callback methode is being called several times with the same packet from the same sender. It has been confirmed that the data was sent only once. I used a sniffer to debug that. And it does not matter if the data is broadcasted or sent to specific address.

WARNING: Verbosity: skip to the very bottom paragraph for succinct version of my question.) Hi- I can't seem to find an answer to this. I am playing around with a variation of the ".NET Framework Developer's Guide" (in the MSDN docs) "Using an Asynchronous Server Socket" sample. As usual with docs like this, the example isn't very good. I had to

smtpClient.Send(message) is causing me problems as per specifics in the trace below. Email is sent but not without this error typically upon sending the second email, but sometimes when running the app, even the first time. The application will be required to be sending out repeated emails, about one every second or two. Must this be done asynchronously? Thank you. -Greg I get the generic error messages;

Hi all, I view many posts about this issue , the connected property does not tell us the current status of the socket. based on couple of suggestions of msdn , and some article here , I try to write an helper method that will tell if the socket is connected or not , but it's not working good continue to tell me that the socket is connectedeven if the other party already call shutdown(both) + close , or , even if the other party close the...

Hi, I'm currently working with sockets. I accept connections using m_mySocket.Listen(BackLogCount); But when I want to stop listening, I shutdown all my clients and call m_mySocket.Close(), but it always raise a OnConnect event (actually, it calls the callback function as if there was a new connection attempt) and I receive a ObjectDisposedException as soon as I do m_mySocket.EndAccept. Does anyone have any idea of what I could do about...

Hi there, since the socket.socket.family attribute has been introduced only in Python 2.5 and I need to have my application to be backward compatible with Python 2.3 and 2.4 I'd like to know how could I determine the family of a socket.socket instance which may be AF_INET or AF_INET6. Is there some kind of getsockopt() directive I could use? For now I've been able to determine the family by using: # self.socket = a connected...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
