Wondering how to be notified when datasource changes within an inheriteddatagr id?

Jim
I have a class that inherits from the DataGrid class. I want to know
when the datasource of my datagrid has changed, but want to execute a
function within my extended datagrid class.

For example:
If you drag out a datagrid onto a form, you can assign an event handler
to "DataSourceChan ged" event of the datagrid. I wish to execute code
within the extended datagrid class every time the data source changes.

Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks!

Figured it out:
[within the constructor of the extended datagrid class]
this.DataSource Changed += new
System.EventHan dler(this.Handl eDataSourceChan ged);
[/end]

Then within the class create a function "HandleDataSour ceChanged" to
handle the event.

Hi, I have a window C# application. I update the dataset when user finished entering in a text box. But when I want to update the database when OK is pressed, the if(dsVehicle.HasChanges(DataRowState.Modified)) would return false and update of the dataset would take place. I do notice that if I select other item that the textbox is bind to then the modified indicator would then return true. Is there any code that I can add in the...

I have a window application. On one of the form, there is a listbox and a few combox. The lstSchItem has a dataview as a datasource. The comboxes are bind to its selected value but through the dataset table. Now when I change the selection in the lstSchItem the comboxes are staying the same and not reflecting the changes. I tried changing the binding to the dataview.table but the comboxes are still not changing to reflect the...

I have a window application. In one of the form, a datagrid has a dataview as its datasource. Initial filtering result would give the datavew 3 items. When I double click on the datagrid to edit the selected lie item at which case I would pop up a separate dialog box to do so, in the debugging code, the dataview.count would return 0. I get a error message because I tried to get values out of a dataview that holds 0 items. Does anyone...

I think I saw something once that made me think a program could get notified if a file changes. I'm not sure if the notification occurs if anything in the file system changes or if it is more selective. I've been searching the VS2005 doc but can't find anything. In any event, is there a way my app could be notified if a particular or if any file changes?

This seems to be something so simple that none of the hundred-odd tutorials and forum threads that I have looked at (:-)) apparently thinks it's a problem. In a nutshell, I have two DataGridViews. Each has a BindingSource (and a BindingNavigator). The first view populates successfully based upon a Linq to SQL query in the Form Load (that is, the query is assigned to the DataSource of that view's BindingSource, and the BindingSource is...

Hello Ashutosh, I see your points. As to your two new concerns, I am give the detailed comments in the following. 1. Is it possible to achieve this result without calling Update on the route table? I want to give the user an option to save/reject the changes. Yes, we can achieve the objective without calling the Update function on the route table. The necessary thing we need to do is updating the

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
