I've chosen to implement the "optimistic concurrency" model in my
application. To assist in that, I've added a ROWVERSION (TIMESTAMP) column to
my main tables. I read the value of the column in my select, remember it, and
then use it in the update. It works just fine when I have full control of the
whole process.
I want to do the same for my GridView/SqlDataSource combinations. I
typically select from a view and update the corresponding...

I am developing a control in ASP.NET 2.0 that is derived from GridView. This
control handles paging on its own and thus renders custom paging buttons. It
also add some other functionality to the GridView by overriding Render() and
rendering other controls alongside the GridView’s HTML.
When I click one of the pager buttons (of type ImageButton), I receive the
following error:
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation...

I am going insane. We have created a themeable control called
GridViewBase:
public class GridViewBase : GridView
in another assembly called BBB:UI and the namespace is BBB:UI as well.
I can successfully use this control in my aspx page with both declaring
it in my web.config OR directly in the page itself with @Register.
FYI... the assembly is referenced by project in the solution and we are
using C#.

Hi,
I started a new web application which so far has several grdiviews
displaying data.
I find myself reimplementing the same logic (copy/pasting really) in grid's
event ItemDataBound and RowCreated and Sorting events to add certain effects.
For example inserting sorting direction image to the column header.
I want to create one custom grid view that implement all this logic to be
reused through out this app, so I wont need to copy...

Hello,
I am trying to bind a GridView to a custom object I have created. First,
here is what I'm trying to do:
I have a wizard for adding/editing Users. When the wizard begins, a User
object (custom class) is created, and properties are populated in each step
of the wizard. In one of the steps, the User is assigned to 1 or more
Programs. Assigned Programs are stored by the User object in a List, and
displayed in a GridView in the...

Has anyone else noticed that the design-time support for databinding in custom controls in ASPNET2 sucks? At least for GridViews? So
far I've spent going on two days trying to get the following simple statements to actually generate something at design-time:
gridView = new GridView();
gridView.AutoGenerateColumns = true;
gridView.DataSource = ;
gridView.DataBind();
I have tried everything I could think of, or read about in four books...

Hi All,
I am implementing a custom gridview control, that emits some javascript to blink a row whenever a new row is added in gridview. The gridview is inside the <asp:updatepanel> for parital page rendering. The problem is when I put the gridview inside the updatepanel, I don't see the HTML table that is created as a result from rendering the gridviewcontrol and thus when new row is added, it does not blink, however when i just put the...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
