Hi all,
Just a quick one: At the moment I use an ArrayList to store 'n Tree
classes' children.
Is this the best/quickest structure to use? What do you guys use?
Best,
Andre 2 1729
Maybe I wasn't quite clear enough about the structure of the class. I'm
actually building a tree out of nodes, and at the moment a parent node
stores its direct descendents in a ArrayList.
It depends a lot on what you need to do with the
hierarchy. If you are just displaying it, then this
is fine. If you need to manage drag and drop
and maintaing the new relationships, then use
this type of approach may be better: http://www.eggheadcafe.com/articles/...atabinding.asp

Hi, all. I have a linked list. I need an algorithm to create a tree
structure from that list.
Basically, I want to turn this:
$list = array(
array( 'id' => 'A', 'parent_id' => null, 'value' => 'aaa')
, array( 'id' => 'B', 'parent_id' => 'A', 'value' => 'bbb')
, array( 'id' => 'C', 'parent_id' => 'B', 'value' => 'ccc')
, array( 'id' => 'D', 'parent_id' => 'A', 'value' => 'ddd')

I get this kind of list from a database. (The tuple structure is: id,
name, parent_id)
I would like to transfer it (in Python) into a tree structure. I don't
care much about format, as long as I'll be able to get all the
information, based on one id. For example, if I have id=3, I want to
get
- name ('otherparent')

From searching around, Ive seen this question asked numerous times, but
havent seen a usable answer unfortuantly.
What Im trying to do is something I would have thought would be quite
common, but there just seems to be no information on the topic that I can
find. Basically I need to store a directory structure in memory, from a flat
list of files and paths. ie given:
C:\dir\dir1\abc.txt
C:\dir\toop.txt

Alright I needed some help regarding a removal of a binary search
tree. Yes its for a class, and yes I have tried working on it on my
own, so no patronizing please. I have most of the code working, even
the removal, I just don't know how to keep track of the parent, so
that I can set its child to the child of the node to be removed.
IE - if I had
C
/ \
B D

I have trawled through the System.Collections namespace looking for some
structure that will enable me to represent and manipulate tree structures,
as yet to no avail.
Of course I can represent a tree as a Hashtable with one part of the Value
of each entry pointing to the key of the parent, but it strikes me that this
is only usefull for drilling up from a child to a parent node - to find all
the children of a node I'd need to scan the...

I've written a tree-like data structure that stores arbitrary python
objects. The objective was for the tree structure to allow any number of
children per node, and any number of root nodes...and for it to be
speedy for trees with thousands of nodes.
At its core, the structure is just a list of lists arranged so that if
node A has children B and C and node B has child D the data looks like:
A =
B =

What's the best way of implementing a multi-node tree in C++? What I'm
trying to do is traverse a tree of possible chess moves given an intial
position (at the root of the tree). Since every chess position has
around 30 moves, it would mean every node of the tree would have 30
branches (on average), which in turn themselves would average about 30
branches each.
I can think of a variety of ways of implementing this, including a
series...

Hello,all!
I work on a kind of algorithm where the speed and memory consumption are critical. I understand that these are tradeofs but I want to try to reach an optimal solution.
Now I'll try describe the problem: I have a tree where every node have a variable number of children (maximum . The number of elements can reach many millions. In the algoritm I need to pass through all when for every node I pass through all his children one after...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
