Creating a RichTextBox from Scratch

Hi have created a richtextbox from scratch using the following code:

Everything works fine except that when I type in the box, I cannot see the
text, but the text is there as if I select the whole box and drag it to MS
word or drag it to a real richtextbox is shows. Any help would be
appreciated.
