XmlRoot or XmlType Serialize ICollection Interface

I created a class that implements ICollection. After serializing got
following result:

<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-16\">
<ArrayOfCustome r>
<Customer>
<FirstName>John </FirstName>
<LastName>Johns on</LastName>
</Customer>
<Customer>
<FirstName>Jack </FirstName>
<LastName>Jacks on</LastName>
</Customer>
</ArrayOfCustomer >

I don't like the <ArrayOfCustome r> tag. I WANT it be <Customers>

Thanks

John

Hi, I have a list which is derived from CollectionBase, and it contains a list of User objects, which I want to Serialize out to an XML file. Is there anywhere where I can find how to decode it so that it recognizes what objects are held in my list? or an example in C# prefereably? Many thanks in advance... Colin

Hi, for what reason do I put XmlType and XmlRoot attributes on classes for XML serialization? I understand the reason for the top element, but not why it is sometimes put for child elements. -- Daniel

I would like to serialize an arraylist of objects to xml so I can store the xml in a database column. How would I code the serializing and deserializing? Below is a (overly) simple, incomplete example of what I'd want to accomplish. Thanks Brad Example

Hello All, I want to serialize a hashtable to a database table to persist its values between postbacks. The client requires that I not use ViewState, hence the database. The samples in MSDN show how to serialize a class that implements the ICollection interface to a file. Does anyone know how to serialize to a database table and conversely de-serialize from the table?

I need to serialize a dictionary so I can encode the contents. I have the following working but the size seems large. I am guessing that I am serializing the entire object not just the data. Is there a better way? MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream(); BinaryFormatter formatter = new BinaryFormatter(); Dictionary<string, string> dictionary = new Dictionary<string, string>(); dictionary.Add("name", "andrew"); dictionary.Add("home",...

Hi group I am quite new to xml. I have a strong typed collection derived from a collection base, and i need to serialize it. I have seriously search on the net and don't find any help about how to make a collection serialisable with a real name (with not the ArrayOf prefix) There is a workaround by encapsulate the collection as a property in another class and serialise that class.

Hi; I would like to be able to use the XMLSerializer to serialize and deserialize a dictionary. is that possible? i know that you can serialize an object that implements the ICollection interface. does the fact that Dictionary inherits from ICollection<cause a problem? Currently i am using a class that inherits from ICollection and it has a Dictionary as it's container. but when it gets to creating the serialized object it blows up. here...

Using C#, XmlSerializer, XP I have a class that I want to serialize, for compatibility reasons I need a specific ElementName. To accomplish this I added right before the class definition. When I serialize the class, though, it uses the class name rather than the SpecificName. It appears to be ignoring the XmlRoot attribute. All the other attributes within the class work perfectly fine, just the XmlRootAttribute that is not quite...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
