Remoting Impersonation/Delegation problem

Hi,
I am working on a n-tier app using remoting. I am using the VS 2005 beta
2. My server needs to access a remote resources on behalf on the connected
user.

I have configured my server like :
<channel ref="tcp" secure="true" port="8081" impersonate="tr ue">

and my client:
<channel ref="tcp" port="0" secure="true"
tokenImpersonat ionLevel="Deleg ation">

I start my server in the context of UserA on one machine and the client
app on another using UserB. When I trace I can see that the context is
properly passed to the server application:
WindowsIdentity currentUser = WindowsIdentity .GetCurrent();
this return a WindowsIdentity for UserB, but the
currentUser.Imp ersonationLevel is always 'Impersonation' ?? I cannot get a
delegation token!!!!

I have made sure that UserB is configured in AD to handle Delegation. I
must be missing something!!!!!

Is there some privileges that I need to activate on my server?

Any ideas would be welcome!

Best regards

Hi all! I have an asp.net web application that is configured for dynamic impersonation via web.config (identity impersonate=true). The corresponding virtual directory is protected by integrated windows authentication via IIS. Some pages within my web application access a MS SQL Server database hosted on a separate server. The database connection string is set to use a trusted connection. Now the problem is, that sometimes the user's...

What is the difference between using a username and password in the processmodel section vs using one in impersonation in the machine.config file? What are the advantages of each and what are the reasons for using each? Thanks for any replies, Scott

We are working on a distributed VB.Net application which will access a SQL database located on a known server. Each client will run on the user's local machine. To implement this, we are trying to use remoting for our access to the SQL server, with the remoting being via IIS. Since all of our users will have accounts in the destination domain, we want to have IIS handle the security for us and not allow anonymous. We have set this up...

I'm trying to host a remoting app in IIS and am getting the following error: Failed to execute the request because the ASP.NET process identity does not have read permissions to the global assembly cache. Hi Am having a problem with an app I wrote to test patch delivery. I contact a remote PC, and get it to run a patch which is installed on a server. It works fine if I use psexec for example and I know it's not NTFS/share-level security at fault - it's readable to everyone which is usually enough for scheduler or any other usually-not-network-user to reach it. I've checked my credentials in my remote session and it says it's

Hello, I am battling a long term problem regarding integrated authentication and impersonation. I have an intranet that uses only integrated authentication to validate my users. The web site is built in asp.net 2.0 and is running under IIS6 with impersonation enabled. The web site interacts with a SQL 2000 database running on a separate member server. Authentication works fine between my clients and the website, but I am running into...

I have a client/server application and I'm trying to get the server to impersonate the client with a delegation token. In my test on Active Directory, I have two users, the server user and the client user. The server user has 'Account is trusted for delegation' enabled in Active Directory. The client user does not have the 'cannot be delegated role' enabled. Any time I connect from the client to the server, either on separate...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
