Hi,
Microsoft provided some naming conventions for namespace, classes,
properties and etc. However I am looking for naming convention for keys in
resource files for multiple languages. Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi Joey,
I don't know it this would help. I usually create a helper class for
extracting resources from resx files. I define an enumeration with keys for
each entry in the resx, and would pass that enumeration to a method in the
helper class, which would call the enum.ToString and fetch the required value.
In other words, the resx files keys would have the same name as that of the
enum constants. Consequently, the naming conventions for my resx entries
follow the standards for enumerations.

sorry if this is OT, not sure if it is since it is a C++ q, sort of :).
I am working on a C++ library where all the files use the 8.3 convention. I
am now adding some collection classes. The typical library convention for
naming files is something like:
header ==> sfxmem.h
source ==> memory.cpp
where multiple memory classes are thrown into.

The company where I work uses a naming convention that I have
never used before. They use mixed-case letters for public
member functions, but lower-case with underscores for the
rest, like this:
class Foo
{
public:
void somePublicMemberFunction();

stupid question time again to most of you experts but this is something that
continually bothers me.
I am trying to get into the habit of naming variables and controls in an
assembly as per convensions. The thing is that Ive never really get the full
reference to check against.
Ive seen a couple of articles, but there always seems to be a bit missing. I
also always seem to run into conflicting convensions both in code samples
themselves...

Hi,
Stupid question:
I keep bumping into the desire to create classes and properties with the
same name and the current favored naming conventions aren't
automatically differentiating them... (both are "Pascal Case" with no
leading or trailing qualifiers).
For example... I'll be modelling something, e.g. a computer, and I'll

I am trying to localise my app using embedded resource
and sattellite assemblies.
I can get it working using the following if I have a resource
file with the same name as the class:
ResourceManager resourceManager =
new ResourceManager(this.GetType());
However, I want to use a global resource for my assembly.

I was just wondering what naming convention most of you use for class
variables.
Underscore, "m_" prefix, camel case, capitalized, etc?
Has one style emerged as the most popular?
Thanks for any comments.

Is it common practise to begin the name of form classes with "frm" (e.g.,
frmOneForm, frmAnotherForm).
Or is that generally considered an outdated convention?
If not "frm" what is a common or recommended practise?
Thanks.

Okay,
I hear you saying 'not another naming conventions thread'. I've read
through Google and the 'naming conventions' threads were rather
*spelling conventions* threads.
I'm not interested in camelCase versus camel_case or anything
mentioned in 'PEP 8 -- Style Guide for Python Code'. What I'm looking
for is hints or ideas how to name your variables and especially how to
name functions, methods and classes.

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
