Is it possible to use Type.GetType(...) with the types in the
System.Web.UI.? My attempts always resolve to Nothing.
Is this legal, or is the Web.UI assembly of the kind Type.GetType doesn't
work with?
Type.GetType("System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox", False, True)
Thanks

Hi.
I'm writing a VB.Net application to update multiple Excel Worksheets.
I'm using late binding (i.e. all variables are objects + use
createobject)
I develop the application on an XP machine with Excel 2002 (version 10.0)
installed - and the code works fine.
I then test the code on a laptop running Excel 2000 (version 9.0) and it

I am trying to "ping" a remote host in my C++/Redhat Linux code to
check whether that host is connected or not.
if (0 == system("ping -w 2 192.168.0.2))
But, in both cases (connected/disconnected), system call returns 0. Can
someone please show what I am doing wrong? How to check the actual
result of the ping status using C++ on Redhat linux ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
When I try to cast an object (ListBox control in an outlook mail form)
retrieved from an outlook add-in it is giving the error,
Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to class type
'System.Windows.Forms.ListBox'. Instances of types that represent COM
components cannot be cast to types that do not represent COM components;
however they can be cast to interfaces as long as the underlying COM
component supports...

I have a series of custom controls developed under ASP.NET 1.1, and
I've successfully migrated to ASP.NET 2.0. I have also developed a
custom class dervied from System.Web.UI.Page, called qbo.Web.Page.
All of these controls compile and run correctly under ASP.NET 2.0.
However, several of these controls throw an error in the design mode
of VS.NET 2005. Specifically, controls that include a property
override of Page (to cast as a...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
